Abu Musab Wajdi Akkari was born in Lebanon in an environment in which Islam did not play a strong role in his life. He lived there until he moved in his teens to California, US, where he went to the University of California. Ironically, though due to the Decree of Allah, this is where he began practicing Islam and learning the religion with great interest. He later moved to Saudi Arabia and has since been studying Islam where he is now a lecturer at the Jeddah Dawah Center. His website is OneWaytoParadise.net, and he may be contacted at OneWaytoParadise [at] gmail.com

Do Not Forward

In this very funny lecture, brother Wajdi Akkari talks about the obnoxious chain messages that are spread through email. Some of them might seem harmless, while others might even appear to be very Islamic. However, despite how much these emails might seem to benefit Islam, many of them actually contain hidden shirk, fabrications against Allah and His Messenger (S), and call people to innovated practices in the religion, which can doom the sender on the Day of Judgment. Brother Wajdi goes through very comedic examples that he himself has received, and keeps the listener laughing at the message but alert about the dangers of messages that you SHOULD NOT FORWARD.

Celebrate

Birthdays? Christmas? New Years? Valentines? Thanksgiving? Halloween? Any other Kafir holidays? To all of the above: Absolutely, emphatically forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, Peace and Blessings be upon him. How about innovated Muslim holidays? The Mawlid - the birthday of the Prophet? It was a deviated holiday started by the Shi'a and propagated by the Sufis in the fourth century after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)! The Prophet and his companions never celebrated it! Then what holidays are permissible? The Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) said:

كَانَ لَكُمْ يَوْمَانِ تَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمَا وَقَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمُ الله بِهِمَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا: يَوْمُ الفِطْرِ وَيَوْمُ الأَضْحَى
"You used to have two days you used to celebrate, and Allah replaced them both with two that are better than them: The Day of Fitr and the Day of Adha (the two Eids)" - Recorded by Nasa'i
