Assalaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Just wanted to give my salams to my beloved brothers and sisters of this beautiful Ummah. I have been muslim now for 1 year and 8 months...Alhamdulillah via a dream of Isa (as). I was a neo-nazi skinhead before Islam and through this dream, my life began to change. Wasnt until 6 months later, after a muslim sister intereted the dream for me, that I then became muslim...Allahu Akbar. Being the only muslim in my area, Allah has truly tested me. And to those who are not satisfied with living amongst the muslim communities, try living in an area where no muslims are and everyone dislikes muslim in some form. Then you would truly appreciate being amongst your fellow muslims.

Wa alaikum isalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

Congratulations on your conversion to Islam and for the general advice to Muslims. Welcome to the site and I look forward to reading more of your forum posts.

Topic : Adage: Muhammad's teaching to mankind

Assalamu alaykum, Adage Ltd. is a non-profit translation and education company registered in the United Kingdom. Adage is dedicated to the production of the first online database of ahādīth translated into English and has the capacity to incorporate several additional languages in the future, if God wills. The translated ahādīth will be available online on a regular basis as well as published when work on the English phase is completed. For more information about this project, kindly visit our website:   http://www.adageonline.netThe available translations of ahādīth up till now, be that online or published, are either imprecise or partial at best. Contrastingly, and due to the significance of presenting ahādīth in the way suitable to the noble figure of Prophet Muhammad, may God’s peace and blessings be upon him, we seek to provide the entire English translations of the following books:1.      Sahīh al-Bukhāriy2.      Sahīh Muslim 3.      Sunan Abī-Dawud4.      Sunan at-Tirmithiy5.      Sunan an-Nasā'iy 6.      Sunan Ibn-Mājah7.      Muwatta' MālikWe made sure that the translation of each hadīth is displayed beside its Arabic version, along with its full tahqīq (reference); i.e. its degree of authenticity, reporter, book (chapter), number and narrator. Due to its significance and scope, the planning phase for this long-term project and intricate task lasted over 18 months. Currently, the accreditation of this project is pending while actual work has already started with the contribution and blessings of several hadīth and Islamic scholars. Our team comprises a selection of competent volunteers devoted to this honourable cause, all of whom seek no financial benefit. We are solely dedicated in this project to spreading the words of our beloved Prophet (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him). Furthermore, this project aims to make a humble contribution to the introduction of Islamic teachings to all through him that represents Islām best. We would like to stress that we do not promote or affiliate with any organization. We would be very grateful if you could spare some time to help us in this endeavor. Your contribution can be in the form you find convenient and this flexibility gives you the freedom to choose. Any contribution as small as pointing in someone's direction could make a difference. You can join our team in any of the following specialties:   1) Arabic BranchJob title: Arabic Branch member

Members of the Arabic Branch proofread the Arabic ahādīth by fixing any typos and then adding the tahqīiq in order to present the ahādīth in the best form possible.

"Thus, Salafiyyah that is taken to mean a special party (Hizb) with specific rules whose members consider anyone who differs with them as astray then they have nothing to do with Salafiyyah" [Allama Ibn Uthaymeen, Liqaa-al-Baab al-Maftooh Q # 1322]

maybe the fake salafis from spubs and troid forget to look into that fatwa before they started i guess...... but well if u want any information regarding this fake sect that is misguiding people under the banner that they are salafis so they MUST be followed and also to know the reality of the munafiqs such as Abu khadeejah, bilal davis and the like then take a look at the real salafi website which has been refuting them for a long time with lots of proof of why they are munafiqs and from the likes of the khwarij

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah) stated in a fatwa: "So the speech of so-and-so is accepted not because it came from so-and-so, but rather because it is in accordance to the truth. And the speech of such-and-such is not rejected [merely] because it came from such-and-such, but rather because it opposes the truth."

 As-salaam U Alaikum Wa Rahmat-Ullah

Sometimes when sentence ends, there are Words whose letters shift to the next sentence.

I have noticed that at times,we write the name of Allah anda  huge amount of Disrespect happens due to the error in our Site.

Allah says in Surah Anfal :Ayah 2

(Translation of Ayah)

"The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'an) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone);"

I Hope you people work fast in setting up the Problem that we are faced with .It surely involves a alot of danger .For man people at times don't Re-Read thierposts and so  we are sinning basing from the Hadeeth :

 Book 37, Number 6648:
Abdullah bin  Mas'ud reported that Allah's Messenger (Sal Allah hu alayhe wasallam)as saying:

Nothing is more loveable to Allah than His praise as He has praised Himself and no one is more self-respecting than Allah Himself and it is because of this that He has prohibited abominable acts.

So,we know that our Allah is Most Self Respecting and loves His Praise. So we need to be careful in writing His Name  that we fulfil the criteria of True believers in Allah(Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) who Trembles  when Name of Allah is mentioned.

Its very Serious  ,so please take an action .

Jazak Allah hu khayran .

Topic : Journey of the Soul

O world, O world, are you offering yourself to me? Do you desire me? Never! Never! Deceive someone other than me, I have divorced you for the third time, so that you cannot return to me,your life is short, the existence you offer is base, and your danger is great. Alas for the scarcity of sustenance (good deeds), the great distance of the journey, and the loneliness of the road!” Ali bin Abi Talib RA

Allah's hesitation to take the soul of a believer

"Allah said, 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper (walî) of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined (frD) upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing nawâfil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him."
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) in Bukhari, vol8, Hadith 509

Glad Tidings for the Believer

Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (Alone)," and then they Istaqamoo , on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised! "We have been your friends in the life of this world and are (so) in the Hereafter. Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for. "An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [41:30-32]

Presence of Shaytaan at the death bed

The Shaytaan is most eager to be present at a person's deathbed, so that the end of a person's life may be accompanied by sin and rebellion [towards Allah], just as he is eager to be present in all of a person's deeds. This is indicated in the Hadith narrated by Jaabir RA, that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said “The Shaytaan is present even when he eats food. So if any one of you drops a mouthful of food, he should remove anything dirty on it and eat it, and not leave it for Shaytaan. When he finishes (food) he should lick his fingers, for he does not know in which portion of his food the blessing lies” [Muslim]

The agonies of Death

Al Bukhari narrated from 'A'ishah RA who said: The Messenger of Allah SAAS said “There is no god but Allah. Truly there is agony in death”

Mental Faculties are returned in the Grave

From 'Abdullah bin Umar RA : The Messenger of Allah SAAS mentioned the tormentor of the grave, and 'Umar RA asked: “Will our mental faculties be restored to us, O Messenger of Allah?” The Messenger of Allah SAAS said: “Yes, just as they are now.” 'Umar RA said “I will put a stone in his mouth”

The Pressing of the Grave

No one will escape the pressing of the grave.

From Ibn Abbas RA, who said, the Messenger of Allah SAAS said “If anyone could escape from the pressing-in of the grave, it would be Sa'd bin Muadh, but even he was pressed by his grave before he was released.”

The Soul's journey after death and the Three Questions

Narrated Al-Baraa' ibn 'Aazib (RAA): We followed the Prophet (SAAS) out to attend the funeral of one of the Ansar men.  When we reached the grave - before the man was buried - the Prophet (SAAS) sat down (facing the Qiblah) and we sat down encircling him.  We sat still as if birds were on our heads, silent.  The Prophet (SAAS) had a stick in his hand with which he would scratch up the sand.  [He gazed at the sky and then down to the ground, repeating this three times]  Then he said, "Seek the protection of Allah from the punishment of the Grave."  He then continued, "When the believing soul is reaching the end  of his time on earth, starting out in the hereafter, angels with white faces shining like the sun descend upon him from heaven, bringing with them one of the shrouds of Paradise and Hanoot.  They sit down around him as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head and pronounces, 'O blessed soul, come out to the forgiveness and pleasure of Allah.'  The soul will then come out like a drop of water coming out of the mouth of a waterskin. And the Angel of Death will take it.  Until his soul comes out, every angel between the heavens and earth will pray for him, as will every angel in heaven.  The gates of heaven will be opened for him, and the people in every level of heaven will pray to Allah to permit his soul to ascend through their domain.

When the (Angel of Death) has taken the soul, the (other angels) do not leave it in his hand for a moment; immediately they take it and wrap in the shroud and scent it with Hanoot.  This is the meaning of Allah's words:

[...When death approaches any of you, Our Angels take his soul, and they never fail in their duty.]
- An'am 6/61

At that moment a scent shall emerge from the soul, a scent not unlike the finest musk found on earth.  They shall take the soul up (to the heavens) and whenever they pass a group of angels, the (angels) will remark, 'Who is this blessed soul?'  They will say, 'It is so-and-so, the son of so-and-so' using the best names that they were addressed with in this world.

(They shall go on) until they reach the first heaven.  They shall ask for it to be opened and it shall open for them.  In each heaven, those who are closest to Allah will accompany him to the next heaven until they reach the seventh heaven, where Allah - Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala - will say, 'Register the book of My slave in 'illiyyun.'

[And what will explain to you what 'Illiyyun is?  (It is) a register (fully) inscribed, to which bear witness those nearest to Allah]  Mutaffifoon 83/19-21.

So his book will be registered in Illiyun.  Then Allah (SWT) will say, 'Take him back to the earth for this was my promise: I created them from it, I shall return them to it, and I will resurrect them from it again.

He will be taken back to the earth, and his soul will be returned to his body.  [And he will hear the footsteps of his companions as they leave him.]  Two stern Angels will come to him, [rebuke him] and sit him up.  They will ask him, 'Who is your Lord?'  He will answer, 'My Lord is Allah.'  They will ask him, 'What is your religion?'  He will say, 'My religion is Islam.' They will ask him, 'Who is this man who was sent among you?' He will say, 'He is the Messenger of Allah (SAAS).'

A voice will call from Heaven, 'My slave has spoken the Truth, so furnish his grave from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a gate to Paradise.'  Some of its breeze and scent will reach him, and his grave will be widened for him as far as the eye can see.  There will appear before him a handsome, well dressed, and finely scented man, saying, 'I bring you good news which shall make you happy.  I bring you good news of the good pleasure of Allah and Gardens of eternal blessing.  This is the day you were promised.'  He will say, 'And you, may Allah give you better news, who are you?'  He will say, 'I am your good deeds, and by Allah I only ever saw you hastening to obey Allah, and ever reluctant to disobey Him, so may Allah reward you with good.'

Then a gate of Paradise and a gate of Hell will open for him.  And it will be said, 'this is your place if you had disobeyed Allah, but Allah has given you this instead of that.'  When he sees what is in Paradise he will say, 'My Lord! Hasten the coming of the Hour...'  It will be said, 'Dwell in patience.'

As for the Disbelieving (corrupt) man, when he leaves this world and enters the Hereafter, stern and harsh angels come down to him from heaven, their faces are black and they bring with them sack-cloth from Hell.  They sit around him as far as the eye can see.  Then the Angel of Death comes and sits at his head and says, ' Come out O evil soul to the anger and wrath of Allah!'

The soul will be dragged out of his body with as much difficulty as a many-pronged skewer being dragged through wet wool (the veins and nerves will be destroyed by it.)

He will be cursed by every angel between the heaven and the earth, and by every angel in the heaven.  The gates of heaven will be locked and the people of every heaven will pray to Allah to not allow his soul to ascend through their domain.  He will take it and immediately put it into the sack-cloth, stinking like the foulest stench of dead flesh ever experienced on earth.  They will take the soul up and whenever they take it past a group of angels, they will say, 'Who is this evil soul?'  They shall say, 'It is so-and-so, son of so-and-so,' using the worst names he was addressed with on earth.

(They will go on) until they reach the first heaven; they will ask for it to be opened for them, and it will not be opened.  (Then the Messenger of Allah - SAAS - recited):

[..No opening will there be of the gates of heaven, nor will they enter the Garden, until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle..] A'raf 7:40

Allah ta'ala will say register his book in Sijjin, in the lowest earth.  Then Allah will say, take him back to the earth for this was my promise; I created it from it, i will return them to it, and i shall resurrect them from it again.  So his soul will be thrown down from heaven until it reaches his body.  Then he recited:

[..If anyone assigns partners to Allah, he is as if he had fallen from heaven and been snatched up by birds, or the wind had swooped (like a bird on its prays) and thrown him into a far distant place.]Al-Hajj 22:31

So his soul will be returned to his body ( and he will hear the footsteps of his companions when they leave him ). Two stern angels will come to him, rebuke him and sit him up.  They will ask him, 'Who is your Lord?' He will say, Haa Haa, I do not know.  They will ask him.  'What is your religion?' He will say, 'Haa Haa, I do not know.  They will ask 'What do you say about this man who was sent among you? He will not even know his name.  But he will be told.  Muhammad.  And he will say, 'Haa Haa, I do not know.  I heard the people saying such and such.'  He will be told May you never know.'

Then a voice will call from heaven and will say, 'He has lied. Furnish his grave from Hell and open for him a gate from hell.'   So some of his heat and venom will reach him and his grave will be constricted until his ribs are crushed together.

There will appear before him a man with an ugly face, badly dressed, and foul smelling.  He will say, 'I bring you bad news, this is the day you were promised.  He will say, 'and you, may Allah give you even worse news!  Who are you? Your face brings bad news!'  He will say, 'I am your evil deeds, by Allah I only ever saw you reluctant to obey Allah and ever eager to disobey Him. May Allah repay you with evil.'

Then there will be sent to him one who is blind, deaf, and dumb.  Who will carry in his hand an iron rod which if he were to beat a camel with it, it would turn to dust.  He will beat him with it until he turns to dust.  Then Allah will restore him then he will be beaten again.  He will emit a scream which the whole of creation will hear except men and jinn.  Then a gate will be open for him to hell.  And his grave will be furnished from hell.  He will say, 'My Lord, may the hour never come.'

This is the journey we shall all take.  How many have stopped to think about and prepare for this journey.  If you were given warning that the Angel of Death would visit you after Maghrib, what would you do till then?  Wouldn't you pray continuously and cry at Asr Salah.  Wouldn't you give Sadaqah and throw this world from your heart.  Wouldn't you come back to Allah with a sincere repentance?  One day, not too far from now, you will be going back to your Lord and He will ask you all of that which you did.

The Resurrection

The Soor (Trumpet / Horn)

Abu Hurairah RA said that, while the Messenger of Allah SAAS was among a group of his companions, he SAAS said, "Indeed, when Allah finished creating the heavens and the earth, He it created the horn (Trumpet) and gave it to Israafeel. He holds it on his mouth, looking at the 'Arsh (Throne) with his sight, waiting for when he will be ordered." Abu Hurairah RA asked, "0 Messenger of Allah, and what is As-Soor?" He SAAS said, "A horn." "And what is it like?" He SAAS said, "Huge. And by the One Who has sent me by the truth, the greatness of the circle of his mouth is like the width of the heavens and the earth. He will blow into it three times: the first is the blowing of terror; the second is the blowing of swooning away; and the third is the blowing of resurrection to the Lord of all that exists.

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudree RA reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "How can I be comfortable (and at ease) when the one of the horn has taken the horn (by his mouth) and has inclined his forehead, waiting - for the time he will be ordered to blow, and he will blow." Abu Sa'eed RA said, "We said, '0 Messenger of Allah, what should we say?'" He SAAS said, "Say: Sufficient is Allah for us and the most Blessed Wakeel (Protector)." Abu Bakr ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa reported this narration in Kitaab Al-Ahwaal.

In another narration, Abu Sa'eed RA reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "How can I be comfortable or how can you (be comfortable) — one of the narrators, Abu Saaleh, was not sure which it was — and the one of the horn has taken the horn by his mouth, paying attention with his hearing, leaning his forehead down, waiting — for the time he will be ordered, so that he will blow!" The Companions RA said, "0 Messenger of Allah, what should we say?" He said, "Say: Sufficient is Allah for us and the most blessed Wakeel (Protector). And we place our complete trust upon Allah

Ibn 'Abbaas RA said, "Indeed the holder of the horn has not blinked since it has been assigned to him, and it is as if his two eyes are glistening stars. He is looking in the direction of the 'Arsh (Throne), fearing that he will be ordered to blow into it before he opens (his eye) again after having blinked." Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa related this narration.

Abu Hurairah RA related that the Messenger of Allah A said, "The holder of the trumpet has not blinked since it was assigned to him. He is looking toward the 'Arsh (Throne), fearing that he will be ordered before he is finished blinking - it is as if his two eyes are glistening stars." Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa related this narration as well.

Scholars say that when Allah created the Dunya He already intended it's destruction.

Number of Times the Horn will be Blown

There is a difference of opinion as to how many times the Horn will be blown. According to Ibn Kathir RA :

The horn (or Trumpet) will be blown three times: the blowing of the terror, the blowing of the swooning away, and the blowing of the resurrection. Others are of the opinion that there are two blowings of the Horn, namely the blowing of the swooning away and the blowing of the resurrection.

The Blowing of Terror

"The mountains will move like clouds, and they will be (like a) mirage. The earth will shake its inhabitants, and it will be like a ship at sea, and the waves are striking it; it will capsize its inhabitants like a lamp suspended from a throne. It will shake the souls. Lo! It is the one about which Allah said:

"On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), the second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), (some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety." [79:6-8]

The earth will shake with its inhabitants; every nursing mother will forget her nursling and every pregnant one will drop her load. Children will turn gray-haired, and people will fly, fleeing from the terror. The angels will meet them, striking them on their faces, and they will return. Then they turn around, running away. They will have no protector from Allah. Some of them will call the others, and while they are upon that state, the earth will split into two cracks, from one region to another. Then they will see a tremendous matter, never having seen before something similar to it. And for that they will fall into such a state of terror and grief that only Allah has full knowledge thereof. They will look at the sky, and it will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead, etc.). Then the sky will be cleft asunder and the stars will be scattered. The sun and its moon will be eclipsed." The Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "The dead will know nothing of that."

Abu Hurairah RA said, "As for those whom Allah SWT exempted when He SAAS said, 'and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified except him whom Allah will (exempt); they are the martyrs. The terror reaches only those who are alive, and the martyrs are alive with their Lord, and they are being given provision. Allah it will protect them from the terror of that day, making them safe. It will be a punishment from Allah that he will send upon the worst of the creation.

"0 mankind! Fear your Lord and be dutiful to Him! Verily, the earthquake of the Hour (of Judgment) is a terrible thing. The Day you shall see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling, and every pregnant one will drop her load, and you shall see mankind as in a drunken state, yet they will not be drunken, but severe will be the Torment of Allah." [22:1].

They will remain in that state of punishment for a period that Allah It wills; and it will be prolonged.

The Blowing of Swooning Away

"They will remain in that state of punishment for a period that Allah It wills; and it will be prolonged. Then Allah will order Israafeel AS to blow the blowing of the swooning away. Except for those whom Allah wills, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth will swoon away. And they will be silent (dead, destroyed).

Only Allah will remain

The angel of death will go to the All-Mighty and say, '0 my Lord, other than those whom You exempted, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth are dead.' He It will say, and He is most knowledgeable regarding who remains, 'And who is left?' The angel will say, '0 my Lord, You, the Ever-Living, Who never dies, remains. The bearers of Your throne remain; Jibreel and Meekaaeel remain; and I remain.' Allah says, 'Let Jibreel and Meekaaeel die.' Then Allah will make His Throne speak, and it will say, '0 my Lord, Jibreel and Meekaaeel will die?' Allah it will say, 'Be quiet, for I have indeed written death upon everyone who is under my Throne.' And so the two said angels die. Then the Angel of death goes to the All-Mighty 'Azza Wa-Jall (to Whom belongs Might and Majesty), and says, '0 my Lord, Jibreel and Meekaaeel have indeed died. I and the bearers of the throne are left.' Allah will say, 'Then let the bearers of the throne die,' and then they will die. And Allah will order the throne, and it will seize the horn from Israafeel. Then the angel of death will go to the All-Mighty and say, "0 my Lord, the bearers of Your throne have indeed died.' He It will say, and He is most knowledgeable regarding who remains, 'Then who is left?' He will say, '0 my Lord, You, the Ever- iving, Who never dies remains, and I remain.'

Allah will say, 'You are one from my creation; I have created you for what you have seen, so die, and he will die. When no one remains except for Allah, the One, the Irresistible, the One, the single Self-Sufficient Master (Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks): He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him. He Allah will be the last just as He was the first. He will fold the heavens and the earth like the folding of the registry for a book. Then he will spread them and then wrap them three times. He will say, 'I am the All-Mighty (Al-Jabbaar),' three times. Then Allah will call with His voice, 'Whose is the kingdom this Day?' Allah will call out (with this question) three times, and no one will answer Him. He will say to Himself, 'It is Allah's, the One, the Irresistible!'

Time between the Blowing of Swooning and the Resurrection

Abu Hurairah RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "Between the two times the horn is blown is forty." Abu Hurairah RA was asked, "Forty days?" He RA said, "I refuse (i.e., I refuse to comment on this, for I cannot say for sure whether it is forty days, months, or years. All that I know is that it is forty)." Then he was asked, "Forty months?" He RA said, "I refuse." Then he was asked, "Forty years?" And he 4 said, "I refuse. (This third refusal is related in the narration of Muslim.)"

Lengthy Period of the Day of Resurrection But not for the Believers

'Alee Ibn Abee Talhah related the following from Ibn 'Abbaas "For the disbelievers, Allah made the Day of Resurrection to be the measure of 50,000 years." In his Tafseer, Al-Kalbee related that Ibn 'Abbaas RA said, "Were anyone other than Allah to be given the responsibility of taking (Allah's) slaves to account, he would not finish the task in 50,000 years (i.e., it would take much, much longer)."

Abu Sa'eed 4 said, "It was said to the Messenger of Allah SAAS 'the day the measurement of which is 50 000 years - that is an extremely long day.' The Messenger of Allah SAAS, said, 'By the One Who has my soul in His Hand, it is made light for the believer, to the extent that it is more light for him than a compulsory prayer he performs in the world.' " (Ahmad) Ibn Jareer related this in his Tafseer, but two of the narrators of his chain are weak.

Changing of the Earth

The earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens. Then He will unfold, even out, spread, and then extend it, like the extending of tanned leather... You will see therein nothing crooked or curved.

"You will see therein nothing crooked or curved." [20:107]

Then Allah will drive out the creation, and they will end up in the one that replaced it (in the earth that replaced it). Allah said:

On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens, and they (all creatures) will appear before Allah, the One, the Irresistible. “ [14:48]

'Ai'sha reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS was asked, "Where will the people be when the earth and the heavens will be replaced?" He , said, "In the darkness before the bridge." (Muslim)

The Blowing of the Resurrection

Then Allah will drive out the creation with one driving, and they will be like they were the first time: whoever was inside of it will be inside of it, and whoever was on it will be on it. Then Allah will send water from underneath the Throne on you. Then Allah will order the sky to give rain, and it will rain for forty days, until the water will be above them by 12 arm-spans. Then Allah will order bodies to grow, and they will grow like the growing of vegetables, until their bodies will be complete, becoming as they were.

The Messenger of Allah SAAS said: "Then Allah will send water from underneath the Throne, and then the sky will give rain for forty days, until the water will be above you by 12 arm- spans. Then Allah will order for bodies to grow, like the growing of At-Taraatheeth (small Egyptian cucumbers) or like the growing of vegetables.

Allah will say, 'Let Jibreel and Meekaaeel live,' and they will come back to life. Then Allah will say, 'Let the bearers of the Throne live, and they will live (i.e. come back to life).'

Then He will order Israafeel, who will then take the horn and place it on his mouth.

Then Allah will call the souls. They will be brought, and the souls of the believers are glowing with light and the others will be darkness. He will grasp them all and throw them in the horn (trumpet). Then Allah will order Israafeel to blow the Blowing of Resurrection, and he will blow (the horn). The souls will come out as if they are bees; they will have filled what is between the heavens and the earth. Allah will say, 'By My Greatness and Majesty, each soul will indeed return to the body that it inhabited in the world.' The souls will head toward the bodies, and they will enter into the noses, moving in the body like poison flows in a poisonous (creature).

'Ajbuth Thanab

The Messenger of Allah said, "Then Allah sends water down from the sky, and they (mankind) will grow like vegetables. And everything from man decomposes except for one bone: 'Ajbudh-Dhanab (the lowest bone on the spinal cord), and from it the creation will be made again on the Day of Resurrection." (Muslim) Bukhaaree related the same through a different chain of narrators.

What is related here about ' Ajbudh- Dhanab and about the creation being made again from it on the Day of Resurrection is also established in the narration of Ahmad from Abu Hurairah

Abu Hurairah RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "Every part of the son of Adam decomposes, being eaten by the earth except for Ajbudh-Dhanab (the lowest bone on the spinal cord). From it man was created and from it he will be put together again." (Ahmad) Ahmad alone related it but it fulfills the condition of Muslim.

Abu Sa'eed 4 reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "The earth will eat all parts of man except for Ajbudh- hanab (the lowest bone on the spinal cord)." It was said, "And what is it, 0 Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah W said, "Like a mustard kernel, and from it they will grow."

Barefooted, Bareheaded, Uncircumcised (Ghulfan, Ghurlan )

You will be barefooted, naked, Ghulfan Ghurlan (uncircumcised).

'Aishah RA reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "People will be raised on the Day of Resurrection, barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised." 'Aaishah RA said, "0 Messenger of Allah, and what about the private parts?" He SAAS said:

"Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others." [80:37] (Ahmad).

Through another chain, this Hadeeth is also related in Bukhaaree and Muslim.

Ibn 'Umar RA related that the Messenger of Allah said, "The people will be resurrected just as their mothers gave birth to them: (they will be) barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised." 'Aishah asked, "Women and men? Be my mother and father sacrificed for you!' He SAAS said, 'Yes.' She said, 'Alas to the private parts!!' He SAAS, said, 'What are you finding so strange, 0 daughter of Abu Bakr?' She said, 'I was amazed at your saying that men and women will be resurrected — barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised. They will look at one another?' He tapped her shoulder and said, '0 daughter of Abee Quhaafah, at that time people will be preoccupied away from looking...They will neither eat nor drink. Their gazes will be fixed to the sky for 40 years. Sweat will reach the feet of some of them; it will reach the ankles of others; it will reach the stomachs of yet others; and some among them will be bridled by sweat from standing so long...

The First for whom the earth will split on the Day of Resurrection

Abu Sa'eed RA reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "I am the chief of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and no Fakhr (no pride or haughtiness because of that). And I am the first for whom the earth will split open, and no Fakhr." Hasheem related this narration.

Abu Hurairah RA reported that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "The horn will be blown, and those in the heavens and the earth will swoon away, except for those whom Allah exempts. Then it will be blown another time, and I will be the first to be resurrected, (and I will see) Moosa AS holding on to (a part of) the Throne. And I will not know, was he recompensed for when he swooned away on the Day of Toor (when he swooned away after Allah SWT revealed Himself to the mountain) or was he resurrected before me." (Related by Abu Bakr ibn Abu Ad-Dunyaa)

The First to be Dressed on the Day of Resurrection

Ibn 'Abbaas RA said, "The Messenger of Allah SAAS; stood among us, admonished us, and said, "0 people, you will indeed be gathered to your Lord, and you will be barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised.

"As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it (it is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it.' [21:104]

"Lo! From the creation, the first to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection will be Ibraaheem A...

Accountability (Hisaab)

Allah will rule between the creation except for Ath-Thaqalain: mankind and jinn. Allah will rule between wild beasts and animals, to the degree that the hornless animal will exact retribution from the horned one. When Allah finishes that, and there remains no liability upon anyone else (from other than jinn and mankind), Allah will say to them (to beasts and animals): 'Be you all dust.' At that juncture, the disbeliever will say, 'Would that I were dust.'

"And when the wild beasts are gathered together" 'Uthmaan ibn 'Affaan RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "The hornless (beast) will exact retribution form the homed (beast) on the Day of Resurrection." (Related by 'Abdullah ibn Al-Imam Ahmad)

'Aishah RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "There is no one who is taken to account on the Day of Resurrection except that he is destroyed." 'Aishah RA said, "0 Messenger of Allah, did not Allah say:

"Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand. He surely will receive an easy reckoning" [84:7-8]

The First Nation To Have Their Account Taken On The Day Of Resurrection Is The Nation Of Muhammad

You will stand in one place of standing for a period of seventy years, and you will not be looked at. Nor will any judgment be passed between you. Then you will cry until your tears are depleted. Then you will cry blood and you will sweat, until that (sweat) bridles you (i.e., reaches your faces, just as a bridle does for a horse) or it will reach the chins (of some).

`Then you will shout, saying, 'Who will intercede for us to our Lord, so that He judges between us?' They will say, 'Who is more worthy of that than your father, Adam. Allah created him with His Hand, and He blew into him from His Rooh, and He spoke to him Qublan.' They will go to Adam and request that from him, but he will refuse... Then they will go to the Prophets, one Prophet at a time. Each time they go to a Prophet, he will refuse them."

The Messenger of Allah A said, "Until you come to me, and I will go until I reach Al-Fahs, where I will fall down, prostrating." Abu Hurairah RA said, "0 Messenger of Allah, what is Al-Fahs?" He SAAS; said, "A place before the Throne; until Allah sends an angel to me, who will take me by my upper arm. He will raise me and say to me, '0 Muhammad.' I will say (to Allah), 'Yes, I am answering your call, 0 my Lord.' Allah will say, 'What is your affair?' - and He is Most Knowledgeable thereof. I will say, '0 my Lord, You promised me intercession, so allow me to intercede for Your creation - so judge between them.'

Allah will say, 'I have granted you intercession. I am coming to you all and I will judge among you."' The Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "I will then return and stand with the people. As we are standing, we will hear a powerful sound from the sky. The inhabitants of the heaven will descend, (in number) like those who are on earth from jinn and mankind. When they come near to the earth, the earth will shine with their light. And they will take their places in rows. We will say to them, 'Is our Lord among you.' They will say, 'No, He is coming.'...Until the All- Mighty - Blessed is He, The Exalted - will come in the shadows of the clouds and the angels. At that time, eight will carry His Throne; and today they are four... Then Allah will call out with His voice, saying, '0 group of jinn and mankind; indeed, I have listened to you from the day you were created until this day of yours: I have listened to your speech and seen your deeds, so listen to Me. Verily, it is only your deeds and your scrolls that are read out to you. Whosoever finds goodness then let him praise Allah. And whosoever finds otherwise, then let him blame no one except himself.

Then Allah will order the Hellfire, and a manifest dark neck will come out from it. Then He will say:

"And 0 you Al-Mujrimoon (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Islamic Monotheism, wicked evil ones, etc.)! Get you apart this day (from the believers). Did I not ordain for you, 0 Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you. And that you should worship Me (Alone - Islamic Monotheism, and set up not rivals, associate- ods with Me). That is a Straight Path and indeed he (Satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand? This is Hell which you were promised! Burn therein this Day, for that you used to disbelieve."[36:59-64]

Allah it will separate the people, making each group distinct. He we will call the nations, calling each nation to its Book. And the nations will be kneeling from the terror (of the situation). Allah said:

"And you will see each nation humbled to their knees (kneeling), each nation will be called to its Record (of deeds). This Day you shall be recompensed for what you used to do." [45:28]

Then Allah will rule between (His) slaves, and the first matter that will be ruled upon will be (issues of) blood. Everyone who was killed in the way of Allah will come, and Allah will command the one who killed, and he will carry his head (i.e. the head of the one who was killed); (blood) will be coming out from its veins. He will say, 'My Lord, for what did this one kill me?' Allah will say, and He knows best, 'For what did you kill him?' He will say, '0 my Lord, I killed him so that the Glory be Yours.' Allah will say, 'You have spoken the truth.' Then Allah will make his face become like the light of the heavens, and then the angels will precede him to Paradise. Then all will be brought who were killed for other reasons. He will command the one who killed, and he will carry his head (i.e. the head of the one who was killed), the veins of which will spill blood.

He will say, '0 my Lord, for what did this one kill me?' Allah will say, and He knows best, 'For what did you kill him?' He will say, '0 my Lord, I killed him so that the glory be mine.' Allah will say, 'You have become wretched or destroyed; or: be wretched).' There will remain no soul that was killed by a killer except that it will be killed for, nor will any transgression remain that one person wronged another with, except that Allah will take it for the wronged from the transgressor, to the degree that one who mixed milk with water will be called upon to purify the milk from the water. When Allah finishes that, then a caller will call out, and all of the creation will hear him. He will say, 'Let every people go to their gods and those that they worshiped instead of Allah. Anyone that was worshiped other than Allah will be given a shape before him: at that time an angel from the angels will be made to take the appearance of 'Uzair; and another angel will be made to take the appearance of 'Eesa. The former will be followed by the Jews, and the latter will be followed by the Christians. Then all of their (false) gods will steer them to the Fire. About this, Allah said:

"Had these (idols, etc.) been aliha (gods), they would not have entered there (Hell), and all of them will abide therein." [21:99]

Then, after that, Allah will have mercy on His slaves. He will order the Muqarrabeen (chosen and close ones) Angels, and they will carry His Throne from the heavens to the earth, until His Throne is placed on a white earth— upon which no blood was spilled and upon which no wrongdoing was perpetrated. It is like white silver. Then the angels will stand, surrounding the Throne. That is the first day that an eye will see Allah. Allah will order a caller, who will call out with a voice that is heard by Ath-Thaqalaan, jinn and mankind, 'where is so-and-so, so-and-so, son of so-and-so, son of so-and-so?' People will stretch out their necks for that voice, and the one who is called will come out from the Mawqif (station, place of gathering), and Allah will make the people to be acquainted with him. Then it will be said, 'Let his good deeds come out with him, and Allah will make the people of the Mawqif to be acquainted with those good deeds. When he will stand before the Lord of all that exists, it will be said, 'Where are the people of Al-Mazaalim?'... It will be said to each one of them, 'Did you wrong so and so for such and such?' He (each one) will say, 'Yes, 0 my Lord.' And that is the day wherein their tongues, hands, and legs bear witness upon them, testifying to what they used to do. The good deeds of the transgressor will be taken and then given to the one he wronged. Then there will be neither dinar nor dirham, but rather only taking of good deeds and returning (to someone else) bad deeds. The people of Madhaalim (who were wronged) will continue to take from the good deeds of the transgressor until there remains no good deed with him; then those who remain, who did not take anything, will say, 'Why are those other than us taking their full right when we are prevented?' It will be said to them, 'Do not rush.' Then their bad deeds are taken and are returned to him, until their remains no one whom he wronged with a single act of transgression (against him). Allah will make all of the people of the Mawqif (place of the gathering) to be acquainted with that. When the accountability of the wrongdoer is finished, it will be said, 'return to your mother, Al-Haawiyah (the Hellfire), for there is no wrongdoing today, and Allah is quick to take account.' Because of the severe accountability that they see, every angel, sent Prophet, Siddeeq (truthful One), and Martyr will think that he will not be saved — except he whom Allah protects.

On The Day Of Resurrection, The Two Feet Of The Slave Will Remain On The Land Of The Mahshar (Place Of Gathering) Until He Is Asked Concerning Five Matters

Ibn 'Umar RA related that Ibn Mas'ood RA said, "On the Day of Resurrection, the two feet of the slave will remain (in their place, i.e., not leaving the place of gathering) until he is asked about five: about your life — how did you spend it? About your youth — in what did you wear it out? About your wealth — from where did you earn it?And on what did you spend it? And what did you do based on what you learned?" (Related by Al-Haafidh Abu Ya'laa)

On The Day Of Resurrection, The First Matter That One Will Be Held Accountable For Is The Prayer: If It Be Right, Then All Of His Deeds Will Be Right; But If It Be Corrupted (Wrong, Not Correct), Then The Rest Of His Deeds Will Be Corrupted

Abu Hurairah RA related that he heard the Messenger of Allah SAAS say, "The first matter for which a man will be held accountable is his prayer. If it be right, then the rest of his deeds will be right; but if it be corrupted (wrong, not correct, etc.), then the rest of his deeds will be corrupted. Then Allah ' Azza Wa-Jall (to Him belongs Might and Majesty) will say, 'Look — does my slave have any voluntary (prayers)?' If he does have voluntary (prayers), then they will be used to complete the compulsory (ones). Then the (other) compulsory deeds (will be reckoned) in the same manner." (Related by Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa)

Reconciliation - Quality of Almighty Allah - You also reconcile in this world

Anas RA, said, "As the Messenger of Allah SAAS was seated, we saw him smile until his front teeth appeared." 'Umar RA said, "What made you laugh, 0 Messenger of Allah — may my mother and father be sacrificed for you?" He SAS said, "Two men from my nation, on their knees before Allah 'Azza Wa-Jail (to Him belongs Might and Majesty), the Lord of Glory, Most Blessed and Exalted is He. One of them says, '0 my Lord, take for me what Iwas wronged in from my brother.' Allah t says, 'Give your brother (what you) wronged him in.' He says, '0 myLord, none of my good deeds remain.' Allah if will say to the one who is seeking (his right), 'What will you do with your brother? Nothing from his good deeds remain.' He will say, '0 my Lord, then let him carry for me from my sins."' The Messenger of Allah's eyes swelled with tears, and he 0, then said,"That is a great Day, a day on which people will have need for (others) to bear the burden of their sins for them. Allah will say to he one who is seeking (his right): 'Raise your sight, and look into the Gardens.' He raises his head and says, '0 my Lord, I see cities of silver, castles of gold, enwreathed in pearls. For which Prophet is this? For which Siddeeq (truthful one) is this? For which martyr is this?' He a will say, 'This is for he who pays the price.' He will say, '0 my Lord, and who owns that?' Allah will say, 'You own it.' He will say, 'What, 0 my Lord?' Allah will say, 'Forgive your brother.' He will say, '0 my Lord, then I have indeed forgiven him.' Allah will say, 'Take the hand of your brother, and admit him into Paradise." At that point, the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "Indeed, Allah will make peace between the believers on the Day of Resurrection." (Related by Abu Ya'laa)

Mizaan – Scale

Abu 'Abdullah Al-Qurtubee said, "The scholars have said, 'when the reckoning (taking of accounts) is finished, it will be followed by the weighing of deeds, because the weighing is for reward, and that should occur after the taking of accounts, for the taking of accounts is for deeds themselves, and the weighing is to show their worth. Therefore the reward is based on both (taking of accounts and weighing of deeds)' As for Allah's saying, 'And We shall set up balances of justice on the Day of Resurrection,' the intended meaning may be that there are many balances in which deeds are weighed; and perhaps the plural 'balances' might be intended to mean 'things that are balanced and weighed,' so that the plural indicates the variety of deeds that are weighed." And Allah knows best.

Allah said:"And We shall set up balances of justice on the day of Resurrection, then none will be dealt with unjustly in anything. And if there be the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sufficient are We to take account [21:47]

"Then, those whose scale (of good deeds) are heavy, they are the successful. Then those whose scale (of good deeds) are light, they are those who lose their ownselves, in Hell they will abide." [23:102-103]

Al-Qurtubee related from some that the Balance has two huge pans: were the heavens and the earth to be placed in one of them, it would have enough space for them. As for the pan of good deeds, it is light. And as for the other (pan), it is darkness. The Balance is erected before the Throne. On its right is Paradise, and on that side is the pan of light. And on its left is the Hellfire, the pan of darkness being on that side.

Nothing outweighs the Name of Allah

'Abdullah ibn 'Amr RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS , said, "Indeed Allah will single out a man from my nation , before all created beings. 99 scrolls will be spread upon him, each scroll going as far as the eye can see, Then Allah will say to him, 'Do you reject anything from this? Have my scribes who preserve (deeds by writing them down) wronged you?' He will say, 'No, 0 my Lord.' Then the King (Allah) will say, 'Do you have an excuse or a good deed.' The man will be dumbfounded and say, 'No, 0 my Lord.' He 5g will say, 'Certainly! You do have a single good deed with Us: there will be no wrong done upon you today.' A card will be taken out, and on it will be 'I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave andMessenger.' Then He will say, 'Inform him.' He will say, '0 my Lord, what is this card compared to these scrolls?' Allah will say, 'Indeed you will not be wronged.' The scrolls will be placed on a scale, and the card will be placed on a scale." Allah, said, "The scrolls will be light, and the card will be heavy (outweigh them). And there is nothing that outweighs 'Bismillahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem (In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful)." (Ahmad) At-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, and Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa related it from the Hadeeth of Laith.

Abu Ad-Dardaa RA related that the Prophet SAAS; said, "The heaviest thing that is placed on the balance is a good character." (Ahmad)

As been related in Sajieeh Muslim, from Abu Salaam from Abu Maalik Al-Ash'aree RA: the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "Purity is half of Al-Eemaan, and Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah) fills the balance. Subhaanallah (How perfect Allah is!) and Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah) fill what is between the heavens and the earth. And the prayer is light; charity is Al-Burhaan (the proof); patience is illumination; and the Qur'an is a proof either for you or against you. Every person goes forth (working), selling himself — either by freeing it or destroying it (through sins)." His saying, "Alhamdulillah fills the balance" indicates that deeds themselves are weighed. Though deeds do not have a physical presence but rather are acts that are performed by the doer, Allah will transform them on the Day of Resurrection, making them have an essence, and they will be placed in the balance. This meaning is present in the Hadeeth related by Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa. In it, Abu Ad-Dardaa related that the Prophet SAAS said, "The heaviest thing that is placed on the balance is a good character." Ahmad related it through another chain as ell, with the wording: "There is nothing that is heavier on the balance that a good character." Abu Daawood and At-Tirmidhee related it through different chains.

The following Hadeeth is related from Abu Salaam from a freed slave of the Messenger of Allah SAAS: "Bukh Bukh (an expression indicating the great significance of a matter, in terms of its goodness) for five, how heavy they are in the balance: Laailaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), Allahuakbar (Allah is the Greatest), Subhaanallah (How perfect Allah is!), Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah), and a righteous son who dies, and then his father Yahtisibuhu (is patient and satisfied with that decree, seeking reward from Allah )." (Ahmad)

Most Difficult Time

'Aishah RA said, "I said to the Messenger of Allah 'Does the lover remember the one he loves on the Day of Resurrection?'

The Messenger of Allah SAAS said, '0 'Aishah, as for three (situations) no:

  • At the Balance until it is heavy or light, then no;

  • when the books are scattered, and one is given his either with his right or with his left, then no; and

  • when a neck from the Hellfire comes out and embraces them, raging over them, it will say, 'I have been entrusted with three — with he who claims a god besides Allah; I have been entrusted with he who does not believe in the Day of Al-Hisaab (accountability); and I have been entrusted with the haughty, stubborn man.' It will embrace them (those three categories of people) and throw them in the midst of the Hellfire.

Intercession

The Messenger SAAS, was given five matters that no other Prophet or Messenger was given.

Jaabir RA — and others — related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "I have been given five (matters) that were not given to any Prophet before me: I have been made victorious with terror for the distance of a month (i.e. those who are one month's traveling distance from him, in terms of his enemies, are terrified to do battle with him); spoils of war have been made lawful for me, whereas they were not made lawful for anyone before me; the earth was made as a Masjid for me and (it was made) pure (for me and my nation), so if prayer arrives for any man from my Nation, then let him pray (wherever he happens to be); I have been given the intercession; and whereas a Prophet would be sent to his people, I have been sent to the people in general." (Bukhaaree and Muslim)

Abu Hurairah RA said, "Meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah SAAS and the arm piece was given to him; it was the piece that he liked. He took a single bite and then said, "I am the chief of people on the Day of Resurrection. And do you know how that is? The first ones and the last ones will be gathered on a single plane. The caller will make them hear and the sun will come close (to them). People will reach such a level of anxiety and distress that they will not be able to bear or endure: Some people will say to others, 'Do you see the situation you are in and how far it has (their situation) reached with you? Will you not look for one who will intercede for you to your Lord?'

Then some of the people will say to others, 'Your father, Adam,' and so they will go to Adam and say, '0 Adam, the father of mankind, Allah created you with His Hand and blew into you from His Rooh, and He ordered the angels to prostrate to you, so intercede for us to your Lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see the situation we have reached?' Adam will say, 'Indeed my Lord has become angry today with such an anger that He was never angry with before and will never be angry with afterwards. Indeed, He forbade me from the tree, and I disobeyed Him. Nafsi, Nafsi Nafsi (My own self, my own self, my own self); go to someone other than me; go to Noah.'

Then they will go to Noah and say, '0 Noah, you are a (Messenger) sent to the inhabitants of the earth, and Allah called you a thankful slave, so intercede for us to your Lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see the situation we have reached?' Noah will say, 'Indeed my Lord has become angry today, with such an anger that He was never angry with before and will never be angry with afterwards. And indeed, I did have a calling (or supplication) upon my people: my own self, my own self, my own self. Go to someone other than me, go to Ibraaheem.'

Then they will go to Ibraaheem and say, '0 Ibraaheem, you are the Prophet of Allah and His Khaleel (one who is given extra special love; a very high ranking with Allah) from the inhabitants of the earth, so intercede for us to your Lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see the situation we have reached?' He will say, 'Indeed my Lord has become angry today with such an anger that He was never angry with before and will never be angry with afterwards: my own self, my own self, my own self. Go to Moosa.'

And so they will go to Moosa and say, '0 Moosa, you are the Messenger of Allah. Allah has chosen you over the people with His Messages and with speaking to Him. Intercede for us to your Lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see the situation we have reached?' Moosa will say to them, 'Indeed my Lord has become angry today with such an anger that He was never angry with before and will never be angry with afterwards, and I did indeed kill a soul that I was not ordered to kill. My own self, my own self, my own self; go to someone other than me; go to 'Eesa.'

Then they will go to 'Eesa AS and will say, '0 'Eesa, you are the Messenger of Allah, and his Word ("Be!" — and he was) which He bestowed to Maryam and a spirit (Rook) created by Him — He said it like this. And you spoke to the people from your cradle, so intercede for us to your Lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see the situation we have reached?' 'Eesa will say to them, 'Indeed my Lord has become angry today with such an anger that He was never angry with before and will never be angry with afterwards,' and he will not mention a sin. 'Go to someone other than me, go to Muhammad.'

Then they will come to me and say, '0 Muhammad, you are the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets. Allah had forgiven you for your earlier and later sins, so intercede for us to your Lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see the situation we have reached?' I will rise and stand underneath the Throne. Then I will fall down, prostrating to my Lord ' Azza Wa-Jail (to Him belongs Might and Majesty).

Then Allah will show me and inspire me with some of His praises and good glorifications for Him that were not inspired to anyone before me. Then it will be said, '0 Muhammad, raise your head. Ask, you will be given, and intercede, your intercession will be accepted.' I will say '0 my Lord, Ummati, Ummati (my nation, my nation). 0 my Lord, my nation, my nation.'

He will say, '0 Muhammad, make enter from your nation he who has no accountability upon him from Al-Baab Al-Aiman (the Right Door) from the doors of Paradise, and they are partners with the people regarding the rest of the doors'" He then said, "And by the One Who has the soul of Muhammad in His Hand, between two wide doors from the wide doors of Paradise is like the distance between Makkah and Hajr or between Makkah and Basrah." (Ahmad) Bukhaaree and Muslim related it through a different chain. In the narration of Abu Bakr ibn Abee Dunyaa, there is the following addition in the sayings of Adam Noah , ' "And I fear that He will throw me into the Hellfire; go to someone other than me."

Abu Nusrah Al-Mundhir ibn Maalik ibn Qit'ah said, "Ibn 'Abbaas RA gave us a sermon from the Minbar of Al-Basrah. He said: The Messenger of Allah SAAS said, 'Indeed every single Prophet had a supplication that was answered in the world, and I have saved my supplication, making it be intercession for my nation. And I am the chief of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and no Fakhr (pride and haughtiness); I am the first for whom the earth will split open, and no Fakhr; in my hand is the banner of Al-Hamd (praise), and no Fakhr; and Adam along with all under him are underneath my banner, and no Fakhr. The Day of Resurrection will be made prolonged for the people. Some will say to others, 'Go for us to our father (Adam), so that he will intercede for us to our Lord — that He judge between us.' So they will go to Adam and say, '0 Adam, you are the one who Allah created with His Hand; He made - your abode to be His Paradise, and He made the angels perform prostration to you. Intercede for us to your Lord, so that He judges between us' He will say, 'I am not the one for you: I was removed from Paradise, and all that matters to me today is my own soul. But go to Noah, the head (or first) of the Prophets.'" He then mentioned the Hadeeth as in the previous narration until the Prophet said, "Then they will come to me and say, '0 Muhammad, intercede for us to your Lord, so that He judges between us.' " He will say, "I am for it, until Allah gives permission to whomsoever He pleases and is pleased with. When Allah wills to separate between His creation, a caller will call out, 'Where is Ahmad and his nation?' We are the last ones and the first ones — the last of the nations and the first whose account will be taken. The nations will make way for us, and we will go forward, Churr (whiteness in the forehead; the faces of the believers will shine on the Day of Resurrection), Muhajjaloon (the places they wash in their Wudoo, ablution, will shine) from the Wudoo (ablution). And the nations will say, 'The members of this nation are on the verge of all being Prophets.' And I will go to the Door of Paradise." (Ahmad)

The Haud

Ubai ibn Ka'ab RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS; mentioned the Haud (Basin), upon which Ubai Ibn Ka'ab RA said, "0 Messenger of Allah, what is the Haud?" He SAAS said, "It is whiter than milk, colder than ice (or snow), sweeter than honey, and it has a sweeter fragrance than musk. Whoever drinks from it will be quenched, and will never thereafter be thirsty; and whoever is driven away from it will never be quenched again." (Related by AbuAl- Qaasim At-Tabaraanee).

In another narration, Jaabir RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "The Haud is the distance of a month, and its corners — meaning its width — is like its length. Its Keezaan (mugs) are like the stars of the sky (in number).(Its drink) is more fragrant than musk (best kind of perfume) and whiter than milk. Whoever drinks from it will never thereafter be thirsty." (Ahmad)

Anas ibn Maalik RA said, "The Messenger of Allah A slept lightly, and then he raised his head, smiling. Either he said or they said to him, 'Why did you laugh.' The Messenger of Allah, said, 'Indeed, just now, a Surah (Chapter) was revealed to me.' And recited:

"Verily, We have granted you (0 Muhammad SAAS Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise)' [108:1]

"When he SAAS completed it, he said, 'Do you know what Al-Khauthar is?' The Companions said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'It is a river in Paradise which my Lord 'Azza Wa-Jall (to Him belongs Might and Majesty) gave to me. Upon it is much goodness. On the Day of Resurrection, my nation will come to it (and drink from it). Its cups are the number of the stars. A slave from them will quiver (and will be prevented from me), and I will say: 0 my Lord, indeed he is from my Nation. Then it will be said,'Indeed, you do not know what they Ahdathoo (perpetrated in terms of sins) after you. — (Ahmad) Muslim, Abu Daawood, and An- Nasaaee related it as well.

The following is the phrasing of Muslim: "It is a river that my Lord promised; upon it is much goodness. It is my Haud (Basin); my nation will come to it (and drink from it) on the Day of Resurrection."And the rest of it is the same as the first narration. What this means is that the drink will flow through two canals from Al-Kauthar to the Haud. And the Haud is in Al-'Arasaat (wide open space where people will be on the Day of Resurrection), before the Siraat. People will be pulled away and prevented from it; they are a people who turned back on their heels (i.e. they apostatized after having accepted Islam).

Siraat

"There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell): this is with your Lord; a Decree which must be accomplished." [19:71]

Then, after the people part from the place of the Mawqif (place of standing for the accountability), the people will end up in darkness, just before the Siraat (path), which is on the bridge of Hell. In a Hadeeth related from 'Aishah RA — which we already mentioned — the Messenger of Allah SAAS was asked, "Where are the people on the Day that Allah changes the earth for another earth, and the heavens as well?" He SAAS-", said, "They will be in darkness, before the bridge." At that place, the hypocrites will part from the believers and will lag behind them. The Muslims will precede them and the two groups will be separated by a wall, which will prevent the hypocrites from reaching where the believers are. Allah said

"On the Day you shall see the believing men and women: their light running forward before them and by their right hands. Glad tiding for you this Day! Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever! Truly, this is the great success! On the day when the hypocrites-men and women- will say to the believers: "Wait or us! Let us get something from your light!" It will be said: "Go back to your rear! Then seek a light!" so a wall will be put up between them, with a gate therein. Inside it will be mercy, and outside it will be torment." (The hypocrites) will call the believers: "Were we not with you?" The believers will reply: "Yes! But you led yourselves into temptations you looked forward for your destruction; you doubted (in faith) and you were deceived by fake desires, till the command of Allah * came to pass. And the chief deceiver (Satan) deceived you in respect of Allah M." So this day no ransom shall be taken from you (hypocrites), nor of those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allah 4(e-Islamic Monotheism). Your abode is the Fire. That is your Maula (friend-proper place), and worse indeed is that destination."[57:12-15]

Al-Baihaqee then related it through another chain as a saying of Ibn Mas'ood RA. In another narration, Anas ibn Maalik RA related that he heard the Prophet SAAS say, "The Siraat (path over the Hellfire) is thin like a hair and sharp like a sword. And the angels prevent the male : and female believers (from falling) and Jibreel AS prevents me (from falling), and I will indeed say, '0 my Lord, rescue, rescue,' for the male and females who will slip on that day are many."

Abu Ad-Dardaa RA, wrote to Salmaan RA, "0 my brother, beware of gathering (and amassing) from the world that which you are not sufficiently thankful for, for I did indeed hear the Messenger of Allah SAAS say, 'A person of the world (i.e. of wealth) who obeyed Allah regarding it will come with his wealth before him. Every time the Siraat (path over the Hellfire) leans forward with him, his wealth says to him: proceed, for you have fulfilled Allah's right regarding me. Then a person of the world (i.e. of wealth) who did not obey Allah regarding it will be brought, and his wealth will be between his shoulders. Every time the Siraat leans forward with him, his wealth will say to him, 'You should have fulfilled Allah's right regarding me.' He will continue like that until he will invoke for destruction and ruin (upon himself)." (Related by Abu Bakr ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa)

Sa'eed ibn Hilaal said, "It has been conveyed to us that the Siraat (path) on the Day of Resurrection is on the bridge. For some people it will be thinner than hair, and for other people it will be like a vast valley." (Related by Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa)

Ibn Abu Ad-Dunyaa also related that Abee Waa'idh Az-Zaahid said, "It has reached me that the Siraat is three thousand years. For 1000 years people will climb on it; for 1000 years people will be upright on it; and for one thousand years people will fall down." Ibn Abee Ad-Dunyaa related that 'Ubaidullah ibn Al-Farraa said, "On the Day of Resurrection, the Siraat will be extended between the trust and the relation (kinship, ties of relation), and a caller will call out, 'Lo! Whoever fulfills the trust and joins ties of relation, then let him pass safely without being fearful."

In a narration related by Sufyaan Ath-Thauree, Ibn Mas'ood RA said, "Allah will order for the Siraat (path), and it will be set up over Hell. Then people will pass over it in accordance with their deeds: the first of them like the flash of lightning; then like the passing of wind; then like the fastest of animals; then a man will pass over it, racing; then a man will pass over it, walking; and then the last of them will be flat down on his stomach. Then he will say, '0 my Lord, why do You make me go slow?' Allah will say, 'I am not making you go slow, but rather it is your deeds that are making you go slow."

In another narration, Abu Hurairah RA related that the Messenger of Allah SAAS said, "Teach the people my Sunnah, even though they dislike that. And if you love for you not to stand on the Siraat (path over Hell) for even the blinking of the eye before you enter Paradise, then do not speak about any matter in Allah's religion by giving your opinion." Al-Haafiz Abu Nasr Al-Waailee related this in Kitaab Al-Inaabah, and he then said, "The chain is Ghareeb and the text is Hasan." Al-Qurtubee mentioned it.

Archway Between Paradise and Hell

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudree RA, related that the Messenger of Allah said, "When the believers are saved from the Siraat, they will be confined at an archway between Paradise and the Hellfire. Retribution will be exacted for transgressions that occurred among them in the world, until they are refined and purified, at which point they will be given permission to enter Paradise.

The righteous will be amid gardens and springs. (They will be greeted), ‘Enter here in peace and security.’ And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury or feelings of bitterness (jealousy, malice, hatred etc) (that they may have). (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones.”
[Surah al-Hijr, 15: 45-47]

One of them is better acquainted with the way to his abode in Paradise than he was with his abode in the world." (Bukhaaree) In At-Tadhkirah, Al- Qurtubee spoke about the Hadeeth, and he said that that the archway referred to is a second Siraat (path), and it is specific to thebelievers. And no one will fall from it into the Hellfire." This is after they will cross over the Hellfire; perhaps this archway is erected over another terror, which Allah knows about, but we do not know about; and He it knows best.

The Gates of Paradise
"Gardens of perpetual bliss – they shall enter them as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. And angels shall enter upon them from every gate.”
[Surah al-Rad, 13: 23]

“This is a reminder. Verily, for the righteous is a beautiful place of final return – garden of eternity, whose doors will always be open to them.”
[Surah Saad, 38: 49-50]

“And those who feared their Lord will be led to the Garden in crowds until behold, they arrive there. Its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say, ‘Peace be upon you! Well have you done, so enter it, abiding in it eternally.’”
[Surah Al Zumar, 39: 73]

Sahl bin Sa’d (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Paradise has eight gates, and one of them is called ar-Rayyaan, through which none will enter but those who observe fasting.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Whoever spends two things in the way of Allah will be called from the agates of Paradise and will be addressed, ‘O slave of Allah, here is prosperity!’ So whoever was among the people who used to offer their prayers will be called from the gate of the prayer; and whoever was among the people who used to participate in jihad will be called from the gates of jihad; and whoever was among those who used to observe fasts will be called from the gate of ar-Rayyaan; and whoever was among those who used to give in charity will be called from the gate of charity.” Abu Bakr said, ‘Let my parents be sacrificed for you, Oh Allah’s Apostle! No distress or need will befall him who will be called from those gates Will there by anyone who will be called from these gates?” The Prophet (SAW) replied, “Yes. And I hope you will be one of them.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Uqba bin Amir (radiAllahu anhu) said: “We were entrusted with the task of tending the camels – On my turn, when I came back in the evening after grazing them in the pastures, I found Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) stand and address the people. I heard these words of his, ‘If any Muslim performs ablution well, then stands and prays two rak’ahs, setting about them with his heart as well as his face, Paradise will be guaranteed to him.’ I said, ‘What a fine thing this is!’ A narrator who was before me said, ‘The first was even better than this.’ When I cast a glance, I saw that it was Umar who said, ‘I see that you have just come and observed. If anyone among you performs the ablution, completes the ablution well and says, “I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger,” then the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he may enter by whichever of them he wishes.’”
[Muslim]

“The gates of Paradise will be opened on Mondays and on Thursdays, and every servant of Allah who associates nothing with Allah will be forgiven, except for the man who has a grudge against his brother. About them it will be said, ‘Delay these two until they are reconciled. Delay these two until they are reconciled. Delay these two until they are reconciled.’” [Muslim, Malik and abu Dawud]

In it are rivers of water, incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine, delicious to those who drink; and rivers of honey, pure and clear. In it there are for them all kinds of fruits and forgiveness from their Lord. Can those in such bliss be compared to such as shall dwell forever in the Fire? Those whom shall be given boiling water to drink, it will be so hot that it cuts up their bowels to pieces.”

This will add to their beauty and loveliness. Then they will go back to their family after having an added luster to their beauty and loveliness, and their family will say to them, ‘By Allah, you have been increased in beauty and loveliness after leaving us.’ They (the ones who have been scattered with fragrance) will say, ‘By Allah, you have also increased in beauty and loveliness after us.”
[Muslim]

The Bounty of the People of Paradise
But after them (i.e. prophets and righteous believers) there followed a posterity who neglected prayer and followed after lusts. Soon, then, will they face destruction, except those who repent, believe and work righteousness. These will enter the Garden and will not be wronged in the least - gardens of eternity, those which (Allah), Most Merciful, has promised to His servants in the Unseen. His promise must come to pass. They will not hear therein any vain discourse, but only salutation of peace. They will have therein their sustenance, morning and evening. He then went away and said, ‘Peace be upon you!’ They (the angels) said, “May there be peace upon you and the mercy of Allah.” So all those who enter Paradise will be in the form of Adam, his length being sixty cubits. (This hadith beautifully sums up the qualities of the people of Paradise, just as the hearts of birds are free from every tint of jealousy, in the same way the hearts of the people of Paradise will e free from jealousy, rancor, deceit, and hatred. Secondly, just as birds are always alert and cautious of any danger, in the same way the hearts of the people of Paradise will also be wakeful. Thirdly, trust as the birds trust in Allah for their food, in the same way the people of Paradise will have complete trust in Allah regarding their sustenance, rather, their very existence.)

[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Apostle (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:

Everyone of them will have no enmity among themselves. Everyone of them shall have two wives. The marrow of the bones of the wives ‘legs will be seen through the flesh because of excessive beauty. They (the people of Paradise) will be neither have differences nor hatred among themselves. The hearts will be as one heart, and they will be glorifying Allah in the morning and in the evening.”

“Companions restrained as to their glances in pavilions.”
[Rahman, 55: 72
“Verily, for the righteous there will be attainment of security gardens enclosed and grapevines, companions of equal age and a cup full (to the brim).”
[Naba, 78: 31-34]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“The members of the first group to enter Paradise will have faces as bright as the full moon during the night. The next group will have faces as bright as the shining stars in the sky. Every person will have two wives, and the marrow of their shanks will glimmer beneath the flesh. There will be non without a wife in Paradise.”
[Muslim]

After Harithah (radiAllahu anhu) had been martyred by an arrow thrown by an unknown person on the Day (of the battle) of Badr, his mother came to the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) she said:
“O Allah’s Apostle, you know the position of Harithah in my heart. (how dear he was to her). So if he is in Paradise, I will not weep for him. Otherwise, you will see what I will do.”
The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, “Are you mad? Is there only one Paradise? There are many Paradises and he is in the highest Paradise of Firdaus”
The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) added, “A forenoon journey or an afternoon journey in Allah’s cause is better than the whole world and whatever is in it. A place equal to an arrow bow of anyone of you or a place equal to a foot in Paradise is better than the whole world and what ever is in it. If one of the women of Paradise looked at the earth, she would fill whatever is in between them with perfume. The veil of her face is better than the whole world and whatever is in it.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Garments of Paradise
Allah will admit those who believe and work righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow, they shall be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments therein will be silk. They have been guided in this life to good speech, and they have been guided to the path of Him, the All Praised.”
[Hajj, 22: 23-24]

They will say, “Praise be to Allah who has removed from us (All) sorrow, for our Lord is indeed oft –forgiving, appreciative out of His bounty. No toil nor sense of weariness shall touch us therein.”
[Fatir, 35: 33-35]

“Upon them will be green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. ‘Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavor has been appreciated.”
[Insan, 76: 21-22]

Al-Barah ibn ‘Azib (radiAllahu anhu) said: “Allah’s Apostle (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) was given a silken garment, and its beauty and delicacy astonished the people. On that, Allah apostle (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘No doubt, the handkerchiefs of Sa’d bin Mu’aadh in Paradise are better than this.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Bracelets of the People of Paradise
Allah will admit those who believe and work righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. They shall be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments therein will be silk. They have been guided (in this life) to good speech, and they have been guided to the path of Him, and the All-praised.”
[Hajj, 22: 23-24]

“For them will be gardens of eternity, rivers flowing beneath them. They will be adorned with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, reclining on raised thrones. How good the reward! How beautiful a place of rest!”
[Kahf, 18: 31]

“Upon them will be green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. ‘Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavor has been appreciated.’”
[Insan, 76: 21-22]

“Gardens of eternity they will enter. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls. Their garments will be of silk. They will say, ‘Praise be to Allah who has removed from us, (all) sorrow, for our Lord is indeed oft-forgiving, appreciative, who has settled us in the house of lasting residence out of His bounty. No toil no sense of weariness shall touch us therein.”
[Fatir, 35: 33-35]

The Youthful Servants of Paradise
Around them will circulate eternal youths with goblets, beakers and cups filled from clear and flowing fountains, no after, ache will they there from, nor will they suffer intoxication, and also with fruits, any that they may select; and the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.”
[Waqi'ah, 56: 17-21]

“Around them will circulate (devoted) youths resembling well guarded pearls.”
[Tur, 52: 24

“Around them, youths of perpetual (freshness) will serve. If you see them, you will think they are scattered pearls).”
[Insan, 76: 19]

The Activities of the People of Paradise

[Ya-Sin, 36: 55-56]

“Then those who have believed and worked righteous deeds will be in a garden (of happiness), honored.”

“(They will be) facing each other on thrones. Passed around to them will be a cup from a clear, flowing fountain, crystal, white, of a taste so delicious to those who drink from it. It is free from headiness, and they will not suffer intoxication from it. Beside them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes of wonder and beauty, as if they were delicate eggs, closely guarded.”
[Safat, 37: 44-49]

“But on this day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers. On thrones they will command a sight of all things. Are the unbelievers not rewarded (finally) for what they used to do?”
[Mutaffifeen, 83: 34-36]

“They will say, ‘Praise be to Allah, who has truly fulfilled His promise to us and has made us inherit the earth. We can dwell in the garden where we will. How excellent a reward for those who work (righteousness)!”
[Zumar, 39: 74]

“They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. They will say, ‘We used to be fearful of Allah and His punishment among our people. But Allah has been good to us and has delivered us from the penalty of the scorching wind. Truly, we used to call upon Him before. Truly, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful.”
[Tur, 52: 25-28]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“The (members of the ) first group that will be admitted to Paradise will have their faces as bright as a full moon during the night. They will neither spit nor suffer anything. They will have their utensils and their combs made of gold and silver, and the fuel of their braziers will be aloes, and their sweat will be musk and everyone of them will have two spouses (so beautiful) that the marrow of their shanks will be visible through the flesh. There will be no dissension among them and no enmity in their hearts. Their hearts will be like one heart, glorifying Allah morning and evening.”
[Muslim]

The Ranks of Paradise
Those who believe, emigrate and strive with might and main in Allah’s cause with their wealth and their persons have the highest rank in the sigh of Allah. They are the ones who will achieve (salvation). Their Lord gives them glad tidings of a mercy from Himself and good pleasure and of gardens for them wherein is lasting enjoyment. They will dwell therein forever. Verily, with Allah is a great reward.”
[Tawbah, 9: 20-22]

“Look how We have bestowed more on some than on others. But verily in the hereafter is greater difference in rank and preference.”
[Isra', 17: 21]

“O you who believe! When you are told to make room in assemblies, (spread out and) make room. (Ample) room will Allah provide for you. And when you are told to rise up, rise up. Allah will raise those of you who believe and who have been granted knowledge in rank. Allah is well – acquainted with all you do.”
[Mujadilah, 58: 11]

“Verily, he who comes to his Lord as a criminal (at judgment), for him is Hell, wherein he shall neither die nor live. But he who comes to Him as a believer who has worked righteous deeds, for them are ranks exalted gardens of eternity, beneath which flow rivers, dwelling therein forever. Such is the reward of those who purify themselves (from evil).” [Ta-Ha, 20: 74-76]

It is narrated that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Whoever believes in Allah and His Apostle (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), offers prayer perfectly and fasts the month of Ramadan will rightfully be granted Paradise by Allah, no matter whether he fights in Allah’s cause or remains in the land where he is born.”
The people said, “Oh Allah’s Apostle! Shall we acquaint the people with this good news?” He said, “Paradise has one hundred grades which Allah has reserved for the mujaahidoon who fight in His cause, and the distance between each of two grades is like the distance between the Heaven and the earth. So when you ask Allah (for something), ask for al-Firdaws which is the best and highest part of Paradise.” (the subnarrator added, “I think the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) also said ‘Above it (alfirdaus) is the throne of the beneficent (Allah), and from its originate the rivers of Paradise.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Sahl bin Sa’d (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“The people of Paradise will look to the upper apartment of Paradise in the same way as you see the planets in the sky.”
[Muslim]

Abu Sa’eed al Khudri (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“The people of Paradise will look at the dwellers of the lofty mansions (a superior place in Paradise) in the same way as one looks at a brilliant star far away in the East or in the West on the horizon. That is because of their superiority over one another (in rewards).” Because of that, the people said, “Oh Allah’s Apostle! Are these lofty mansions the prophets mansions which nobody else can reach?”
The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) replied, “By Allah, in whose hands my life is, some men who believe in Allah and trust His Apostles will be able to reach them.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Anas bin Malik (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Umm Ar-Ruba'i bint Al-Barah (radiAllahu anha) the mother of Harithah ibin Suraqah (radiAllahu anhu) came to the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) and said:
“Oh Allah’s Prophet! Will you tell me about Harithah?” Harithah had been killed (martyred) on the day of Badr with an arrow by an unidentified person. She added, “If he is in Paradise, I will weep bitterly for him.” He said, “Oh mother of Harithah! There are gardens in Paradise, and your son got the Firdaus at A'la (the best place in Paradise).”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Lowest Rank in Paradise
Abdullah (radiAllahu anhu) said: “The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said,
‘I know the person who will be the last to come out of the Hellfire and the last to enter Paradise. He will be a man who will come out of the Hellfire crawling, and Allah will say to him, ‘Go and enter Paradise.” He will go to it, but will imagine that it has been filled, and then he will re turn and say, “Oh Lord, I have found it full.” Allah will say, “Go and enter Paradise, and you will have what equals the world and ten times as much (you will have as much as ten times the like of the world).” On that, the man will say, “Do you mock at me (laugh at me) though You are the King?” I saw Allah’s Apostle (SAW) (while saying that) smiling that his premolar teeth became visible. It is said that will be the lowest degree among the people of Paradise.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) said: “Some people said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?’ He said,
‘Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the sun when it is not hidden by clouds?’ They replied, ‘No, Allah’s Apostle’. He said, ‘Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the moon when it is full and not hidden by clouds?’ They replied, No’, Allah’s Apostle’.
He said, ‘So you will see Him (your Lord) on the Day of Resurrection similarly. Allah will gather all the people and say, ‘Whoever used to worship anything should follow that thing.’ So he who used to worship the sun, will follow it; and he who used to worship the moon will follow it and he who used to worship false deities will follow them. And then only this nation (Muslims) will remain, including their hypocrites. Allah will come to them in a shape other than they know and will say, “I am your Lord.” They will say, “We seek refuge from you. This is our place (we will not follow you) till our Lord comes to us, and when our Lord comes to us, we will recognize Him.” Then Allah will come to them in a shape they know and will say, “I am your Lord,” They will say, “(No doubt) You are our Lord.” And they will follow Him. Then a bridge will be laid over the Hellfire.” And Allah’s Apostle (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) added, ‘I will be the first to cross it.
The invocation of the apostles on that day will be, ‘Allahumma sallim, sallim! (O Allah save us, save us!)’ Over that bridge will be hooks similar to the thorns of as’sa’daan (a thorny tree). Didn’t you see the thorns of as’ sa’daan?’ The companions said, ‘Yes, Oh Allah’s Apostle.’ He added, ‘So the hooks over that bridge will be like the thorns of as’-sa’daan, except that their greatness in size is only known to Allah. These hooks will snatch the people according to their deeds. Some people will be ruined because of their evil deeds, and some will be cut into pieces and fall down in Hell, but will be saved afterwards when Allah finished the judgments among His slaves and intends to take out of the Fire whoever He wishes to take out from among those who used to testify that none had the right to be worshipped but Allah.

He will order the angels to take them out. The angels will know them by the mark of the traces of prostration (on their foreheads), for Allah banned the Fire to consume the traces of prostration on the body of Adam’s son. So they will take them out, and by then they will have been burnt (as coal). Then water, called maa’ul hayat (water of life) will be poured on them, and they will spring out like a seed springs out on the bank of a rainwater stream. There will remain one man who will be facing the Hellfire and will say, “OH Lord! Its (Hell) vapor has poisoned and smoked me, and its flame has burnt me. Please turn my face away from the Fire.” He will keep on invoking Allah till Allah says, “Perhaps if I give you (what you want), you will ask for another thing?” The man will say, “No, by Your power, I will not ask You for anything else.”
Then Allah will turn his face away from the Fire. The man will say after that, “Oh Lord, bring me near the gate of Paradise.” Allah will say to him, “Didn’t you promise not to ask for anything else? Woe to you, oh son of Adam! How treacherous you are!” The man will keep invoking Allah till Allah will say, “But if I give you that, you may ask me for something else.” The man will say, “No, by Your power, I will not ask for anything else.” He will give Allah his covenant and promise not to ask for anything else after that. So Allah will bring him near to the gate of Paradise. When he sees what is in it, he will remain silent as long as Allah wills, and then he will say, “Oh Lord! Let me enter Paradise.” Allah will say, “Didn’t you promise that you would not ask ME for anything other than that? Woe to you, oh son of Adam! How treacherous you are!” On that, the man will say, “Oh Lord! Do not make me the most wretched of Your creation,” and will keep on invoking Allah till Allah will smile. When Allah smiles because of him, then HE will allow him to enter Paradise. When he enters Paradise, he will be addressed, “Wish from so and so” He will wish until all his wishes are fulfilled. Then Allah will say, “All this (what you have wished for) and as much again therewith are for you.” Abu Hurairah (RA) added, ‘That man will be the last of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise.”

'Ata (radiAllahu anhu) narrated while Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reporting: “Abu Sa’eed (RA) was sitting in the company of Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) and he did not deny anything of his narration till he reached his saying, ‘All this and as much again therewith are for you.”
Then Abu Sa’eed (radiAllahu anhu) said, ‘I heard Allah’s Apostle say, “This is for you and ten times as much.” Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) said, “In my memory it is as much again therewith.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

[Muslim]

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (radiAllahu anhu) and Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) both narrated that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“There will be an announcer (in Paradise) who will make this announcement, ‘
Verily, there is in store for you (everlasting) health. You will never fall ill, and you will live (forever) and never die. You will remain young and never become destitute.’ (This is explained in) the words of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, ‘And it will be announced to them, “This is the Paradise you have been made to inherit for what you used to do.””
[Muslim, Quranic quote is from Al-A'raf, 7: 43]

Abu Sa’eed (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Death will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a white – colored ram.” Abu Juraib made the addition, “Then it will be made to stand between Paradise and Hell.” (So far the rest of the hadeeth is concerned, there is perfect agreement between the two narrators.) “It will be said to the people of Paradise. ‘Do you recognize this? They will raise up their necks, look towards it and say, ‘Yes, it is death’ Then a command will be given to slaughter it, and it will be said, “Oh people of Paradise,
there is everlasting life for you and no death, Then (Addressing) the people of Hellfire, it is will be said, “Oh people of Hellfire! There is everlasting life for you and no death.” Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) then recited the following verse pointing with his hand to this material world. “Warn them of the day of regret, when their affairs will be decided. They are unmindful, and they do not believe!”
[Muslim, Surah Maryam 19: 39]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“It will be said to the people of Paradise. ‘Oh people of Paradise, eternity for you and no death!’ To the people of the Fire (It will be said), “Oh people of the fire, eternity for you and no death!’”[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Greatest Thing in Paradise
Say, ‘Shall I bring your attention to things far better than those? For the righteous are gardens in nearness to their Lord, with rivers flowing beneath, eternal therein, with pure companions and the good pleasure of Allah. For within Allah’s sight are all His servants – especially those who say, “Our Lord, we have indeed believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the agony of the Fire.” Those who are patient, are truthful, who worship devoutly, who spend in the way of Allah and who prays for forgiveness in the pre-dawn hours.’”
[ali'-Imran, 3: 15-17]

“Allah has promised to believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein eternally and good homes in gardens of everlasting bliss. But the pleasure of Allah is greatest. That is the supreme triumph.”
[Tawbah, 9: 72]

“Those who believe, emigrate and strive with mighty and main in Allah’s cause with their wealth and their persons’ have the highest rank in the weight of Allah. They are the ones who will achieve salvation. Their Lord gives them glad tidings of a mercy from Himself and good pleasure and of gardens for them wherein is lasting enjoyment. They will dwell therein forever. Verily, with Allah is a great reward.”
[Tawbah, 9: 20-22]

“Their salutation on the day they meet Him will be ‘Peace!; and He has prepared for them a generous reward.”
[Ahzab, 33: 44]

“Peace!’ a word of salutation from a Lord most Merciful!”
Ya-Sin, 36: 58]

“Some faces that day, will beam in happiness, looking at their Lord.”
[Qiyamah, 75: 22-23]
(This ayah is used as proof by ahl us-Sunnah that the people of Paradise will actually see their Creator).

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Allah will say to the inhabitants of Paradise, ‘Oh inhabitants of Paradise! They will say, Oh our Lord, we present ourselves and are at Your pleasure, and good ness rests in Your hands.’ Then He will say, ‘Are you contented?’ They will reply, ‘And how should we not be contented, oh Lord, when You have given to us that which You have given to no one else of Your creation?’ Then He will say, ‘Would you not like Me to give you something better than that?’ They will answer, ‘Oh Lord and what thing is better than that?’ He will say, “shall cause My favor to descend upon you and there you shall never be displeased with you.’”
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Muslim and at-Tirmidhi]

The Creation of Paradise
Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
"When Allah created Paradise and Hellfire, He sent Gabriel to Paradise, saying, ‘look at it and at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants.’ So Gabriel went to it and looked at it and at what Allah had prepared therein for its inhabitants. Then Gabriel returned it Allah and said, ‘By Your glory, no one hears of it without entering it.’ So Allah ordered that it be encompassed by forms of hardship, and He said, ‘Return to it and look at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants! So, Gabriel returned to it and found that it was encompassed by forms of hardship. Then he returned to Allah and said, ‘By Your glory, I fear that no one will enter it, Allah said, ‘Go to Hellfire and look at it and at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants.’ Gabriel found that it was in layers, one above the other. Then Gabriel returned to Allah and said, ‘By Your glory, no one who hears of it will enter it.’ So Allah ordered that it be encompassed by lusts. Then He said, ‘Return to it and Gabriel returned to it and said, ‘By Your glory, I am frightened that no one will escape from entering it.’
[at-Tirmidhi, abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i]

Masruuq (radiAllahu anhu) said: "We asked Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud about this verse: “And do not regard those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead, rather, they are alive with their Lord and being provided for."
[Surah ali' Imran, 3: 169]

He said, ‘We asked about that and the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, “Their souls are in the insides of green birds, having lanterns suspended from the Throne, roaming freely in Paradise where they please, then taking shelter in those lanterns. Their Lord cast a glance at them and said, ‘Do you wish for anything?’ They said, ‘What shall we wish for when we roam freely in Paradise where we please?’ And He did that with them three times- when they saw that they would not be spared from being asked again, they said, ‘Oh Lord! We would like for You to put our souls back into our bodies so that we might fight for Your sake once again.’ When Allah saw that they were not in need of anything, they were let be.’
[Muslim, at-Tirmidhi, an-Naa'i and Ibn Majah]

The Gates of Hell
The unbelievers will be led to Hell in crowds until, when they arrive there, its gates will be opened..”

[az-Zumar, 39: 71]

“And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all. It has seven gates: to each of those gates is a specific class of sinners assigned.”
[al Hijr, 15: 43-44]

“To them will be said, ‘Enter you the gates of Hell to dwell therein. And how evil is this abode of the arrogant.’”
[az Zumar, 39: 72]

“But those who reject Our signs are the companions of the left hand – on them will be fire vaulted over.”
[al Balad, 90: 19-20]
In Arabic, the phrase “on them will be fire vaulted over” indicates that the gates of Hell be closed. In other words, the fire will encompass the companions of the Fire, and the gates of Hell will imprison them within. As well, the gates of Hell will be locked, vaulted all around, and outstretched columns will cover the doors.

“It is the fire of Allah, kindled to a blaze, which mounts right to the hearts. It will be a vault over them in outstretched columns.”
[al Humazah, 104: 6-9]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
‘When the month of Ramadan begins and the gates of Heaven are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Levels of Hell
To all are degrees or ranks according to their deeds.”
[an-An'am, 6: 132]

“Is the man who follows the good pleasure of Allah like the one who draws upon himself the wrath of Allah and whose abode is in Hell – an evil refuge? They are varying grades in the sight of Allah, and Allah sees well all that they do.”
[ali'-Imran, 3: 162-163]

“Indeed the hypocrites are in the lowest depths of the Fire; you will find no helper for them.”
[an Nisa, 4: 145]

Capacity and Depth of Hell
On the Day of Judgment the inhabitants of Hell will see their destined abode face to face and will realize the error of their ways. But, of course, it will be too late. The Qur’an states: “No! When the earth is pounded to powder, and your Lord comes with His angels, rank upon rank, and Hell, that Day, is brought [face to face] – on that Day will man remember? But how will that remembrance profit him?”
[al Fajr, 89: 21-23]

“On the Day We will say to Hellfire, ‘have you been filled?’ it will say, ‘Are there some more?’”
[Qaf, 50: 30]

Ibn Mas'ud (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Hell will be brought on that Day. It will have seventy thousand reins with seventy thousand angels drawing it by each rein.” [Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“And his (the disbeliever’s) seat in Hellfire is as much as (the distance) between Makkah and Madinah.”
[at-Tirmidhi and al-Hakim]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported: “While we were in the company of Allah’s Messenger (SAW), we heard a terrible sound. Thereupon, Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Do you know what that sound is?’ When we answered, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He said. “That is a stone which was thrown into Hell seventy years ago and has been constantly falling until now when it finally reached the bottom.’”
[Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Hell and Paradise fell into a dispute during which Hell said, ‘I have been distinguished by the proud and the haughty.’ And Paradise said, ‘What is the matter with me that only the meek and the humble and the downtrodden and the simple enter me?’
Thereupon, Allah said to Paradise, ‘You are the means of My mercy whereby I show mercy to those of My servants whom I wish.’ Then He said to Hell, ‘You are the means of punishment whereby I punish those of My servants whom I wish. Both of you will be full.’ Hell will not be filled up until Allah puts His foot over it. Then Hell will say, ‘Enough, enough, enough,’ at which point it will be filled up, all of its parts integrated together.”
[Muslim]

Anas bin Malik (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Hell will continue to ask, ‘Is there anything more?’ until Allah, the Exalted, and High will place His foot thereon, Then it will say, ‘Enough, enough, by Your honor,’ and some of its parts will draw close together.’” [Muslim]

He will be dyed in the Fire but once, and then it will be said to him, ‘O son of Adam, have you ever seen good at all? Has any pleasure ever come to you?’ He will say, ‘No, by Allah, O Lord.’ Then the most miserable people in the world will be brought from the people of Paradise and will be dyed with the dye of Paradise. It will be said to him, ‘O son of Adam, have you ever seen any misery, and has any hardship ever come to you? ‘ He will say, ‘No, by Allah, O my Lord. No misery ever came to me, nor did I see any hardship.’”
[Muslim]

And We have made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers – in order that the People of the Book may be certain and that the believers may increase in faith, and so that the People of the Book and the believers would not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers would say, ‘What example does Allah intend by this?’ Thus does Allah leave to stray whom he pleases and guides whom He pleases. And none can know the soldiers of your Lord except He. And this is nothing other than a warning to mankind.”

The Effects upon the Present World

[Sahih al-Bukhari]

And it will be said to them, “This is your father, Adam.” Adam will say, [responding to the call], “Labbayk wa sa’dayk.” Then Allah will say [to Adam], “Bring forth from your descendants the delegations of the Fire.” He will say, “O Lord, how many should I bring?” Allah will answer, “From every hundred, ninety-nine.’”
The companions said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, if ninety-nine out of every one hundred of us are brought forth , then what will remain of us?’ The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) stated, ‘My nation among other nations is like a white hair on a black bull.’”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

[Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Ibn Abbas (radiAllahu anhu) stated: “The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said,

If you had always been good to one of them and then she saw something in you not to her liking, she would say, ‘I have never seen any good from you at all.”’”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

And they are followed by a curse in this [life] and on the Day of Judgment. And evil is the gift which will be given [to them].”

[Ghafir, 40: 46]

The Wives of Nuh and Lut:

“Allah has given an example of those who disbelieve: the wife of Nuh and the wife of Lut. They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them; so they [the two prophets] did not benefit them [the wives] before Allah at all, and they were told, ‘Enter the Fire with those who enter.’”
[at-Tahreem, 66: 10]

Abu Lahab and His Wife:

[Sahih al-Baqarah, 2: 161-162]

Hypocrites:
“Indeed the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire; you will find no helper for them.”
[an-Nisa, 4: 145]

“The hypocrites are afraid that a surah be sent down about them, showing them what is [really] in their hearts. Say, ‘Ridicule you! But verily, Allah will expose all that you fear.’ If you question them, they declare, ‘We were only talking idly and playing.’ Say, ‘Is it Allah and His signs and His messengers that you were mocking?’ Make no excuses that you were rejected faith after having accepted it. IF We pardon some of you, We will punish others because they were criminals. The hypocrites – men and women are of one another. They enjoin evil and forbid what is just and close their hands [in stinginess]. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them. Verily, the hypocrites are rebellious and perverse. Allah has promised the hypocrites men and women and the rejecters of faith the fire of Hell; they will dwell therein. It is sufficient for them. And Allah will curse them, and they will have an enduring punishment.”
[at-Tawbah, 9: 64-68]

Polytheists (Those who Associate Something with Allah):
“Those who reject [truth] among the People of the Book and the polytheists were not going to depart [from their ways] until there comes to them clear evidence – a messenger from Allah, rehearsing pure scriptures, wherein are upright laws [or decrees]. Nor did those who had been given the scripture make schisms until after there had come to them clear evidence. And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, sincere in religion to Him, to establish regular prayer, and to pay zakah. And that is the upright religion. Those who reject [truth] among the People of the Book and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, dwelling therein forever. They are the worst of creatures.”
[al-Bayyinah, 98: 1-6]

People of the Book (Who Reject Islam):

[al-A'raf, 7: 36]

Sinners and Criminals:

("those who curse" refers to the angels and believers.)

“But they asked victory, and disappointment is the lot of every obstinate tyrant. In front of him is Hell, and he is given pus to drink. He will gulp it but will hardly be able t oswallow it, and death will come to him from every place, yet he will not die. And in front of him will be a heavy punishment.”
[Ibrahim, 14: 15-17]

“[It will be said to the two angels], ‘Throw into Hellfire every obstinate rejecter [of Allah] – who prevented good, transgressed, and doubted, who set up another god besides Allah – throw him into the severe punishment.’”
[Qaf, 50: 24-26]

Murderers:
“And whoever kills a believer intentionally – his recompense is Hell to abide therein forever, and the warth and the curse of Alllah is upon him, and He has prepared for him a great punishment.” [an-Nisa, 4: 93]

”Those who presect [or draw into temptations] the believers – men and women – and then do not turn in repentance will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.”
[al-Buruj, 85: 10]

‘He who kills himself with a steel [weapon] will be eternal inhabitant of Hell, and he will have that [weapon] in his hand and will be thrusting it into his stomach forever and ever; he who kills himself by drinking poison will sip in the fire of Hell, forever and forever. He will kills himself by throwing himself from a the top of a mountain and will constantly fall in the fire of Hell forever and ever.”
[Muslim]

Other Inhabitants:
Harithah bin Wahb narrated (radiAllahu anhu) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) say:
“Shall I not inform you who the people of Paradise are? [They are comprised of] every person who is weak and taken advantage of, but if he swore that Allah would do something, He (suhanahu wa ta’ala) would comply. And shall I not inform you who the people of Hell are? [They are comprised of ] every one who is cruel, proud and arrogant.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

It is narrated: “The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said,
‘The inhabitants of Hell are five: 1) the weak who lack self-restraint, who follow blindly and do not care for family or property (i.e. they care neither for the benefits of the Hereafter nor of this world); 2) the treacherous who does not show himself but his greed is such that he is deceitful even in small things; 3) a person who would betray you morning and evening regarding your family and your property.’ He also made mention of 4) the miser of the liar and 5) one who is in the habit of abusing people and using obscene and foul language.”
[Muslim]

It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Paradise and Hell fell into a dispute for, accommodating the haughty and proud, and Paradise said, ‘What is the matter with me that only the meek and the humble and the downtrodden and simple will find abode in me?’ Thereupon, Allah said to Paradise, ‘You are a means of My mercy. I will show mercy through you to whom I will from among My servants.’ Then He said to Hell, ‘You are a sign of My chastisement, and I will chastise through you whom I will from among My servants. Both of you will be full.’ And as regards to Hell, it will not be full until Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, places His foot over it. Then Hell will say, ‘Enough, enough, enough!’ at which point it will be full and will be compressed. Allah will not treat unjustly anyone among His creation. As for Paradise, He will create another creation to fill it.”
[Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“There are two types of inhabitants of Hell whom I have not seen in my lifetime: People who have whips like the tails of oxen with them and will be beating people, and women who will be dressed yet undressed, who will be inclined to evil and will make others incline towards it. Their heads will appear like the humps of Persian camels inclined to one side. They will not enter Paradise, nor will they even smell its odor, although will be smelled from long distances away.”
[Muslim]

(When the Prophet Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) saw Hell, many different kinds of people were there; however, there were two types whom he did not recognize because they did not exist at the time when he was alive, (seventh century). These two types of people are the following:
1) those carrying whips who were beating others (oppressors)
2) women wearing revealing outfits much like the fashionable clothing of today. These women have unusual hairstyles, perhaps like the ones worn by modern-day women. Through this hadith the Prophet Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) predicted the nature of women’s clothing in the future- he foretold that clothing considered fashionable would reveal much of the body – and he also predicted the nature of the hairstyles and wigs of modern times worn by those women who will be among the inhabitants of Hell).

The Food of Hell
"No food will there be for them except bitter dhari (a thorny plant), which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger."
[Surah al-Ghashiyah, 88: 6-7]

“Verily, the tree of Zaqqum will be the food of the sinful. Like molten brass it will boil in their insides like the boiling of scalding water.”
[ad-Dukhan, 44: 43-46]

“Is that (Paradise) the better hospitality or the tree of Zaqqum? For We have truly made it as a torment for the wrongdoers. For it is a tree that springs out of the bottoms of Hellfire; the shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils. Truly they will eat from it and fill their bellies with it. Then on top of that they will be given a mixture of boiling water.”
[as-Saffat, 37: 62-67).

“Then will you truly –O you who have gone astray an denied – you will surely eat of the trees of Zaqqum. Then will you fill your stomachs with it and drink boiling water on top of it, and you will drink boiling water on top of it, and you will drink like diseased camels, raging with thirst. Such will be their hospitality on the Day of Requital.”
[al-Qaqi’ah, 56: 51-56]

“With Us are yokes (to bind them) and fire (to burn them) and food that chokes and a grievous punishment.”
[al-Muzzammil, 73: 12-13]

“So he has no friend here this Day, nor does he have any food except what comes from the washing of wounds, which none will eat except the sinners.”
[al Haqqah, 69: 35-37]

“Thus, All this. But indeed for the oppressors will be an evil place of final return. It is Hellfire – they will burn therein, and how evil is that bed, Thus, then will they taste it – a boiling fluid and a filthy fluid of pus and blood and other penalties of a similar kind to match them.”
[Sad, 38: 55-58]

Ibn Abbas (radiAllahu anhu) reported: “The Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) recited the following verse: ‘Fear Allah with the fear due to Him, and do not die except as Muslims.’ Then he said, ‘If a drop of Zaqqum would have fallen into a house in this world, it would have spoiled all the provisions of the people of this world. Then how will it be with one whose food it has become?’”
[at-Tirmidhi, Surah ali'-Imran, 3: 102]

“Those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans are only eating fire into their bellies. They will soon be driven into a blazing fire.”
[an-Nisa, 4: 10]

“Truly, those who conceal what Allah has revealed from the scripture and exchange it for a small price – they are not taking into their stomachs except fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Judgment, and He will not purify them. And they will have a painful punishment.”
[al-Baqarah, 2: 174]

The Drinks of Hell
Hameem (Boiling Water):
“Here is a parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised. In it are rivers of water, incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine, delicious to those who drink; and rivers of honey, pure and clear. In it there are for them all kinds of fruits and forgiveness from their Lord [Can those in such bliss] be compared to such as will dwell forever in the Fire and be given boiling water to drink that will cut up their bowels?”
[Muhammad, 47: 15]

“This is the Hell which the criminals deny. They will go back and forth between it and boiling hot water.”
[ar-Rahman, 55: 43-44]

“Thus. Then will they taste it – a boiling fluid and a filthy fluid of pus and blood and other penalties of a similar kind to match them.”
[Sad, 38: 57-58]

“Has the story reached you of the Overwhelming Event? Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, laboring hard, weary. They will be driven into a blazing fire. They will be given drink from a boiling spring.”
[al-Ghashiyah, 88: 1-5]

“To Him will be your return all of you. The promise of Allah is true. It is He who begins the process of creation and repeats it that HE may reward those who believe and work righteousness with justice. But those who reject Him will have a drink of boiling fluids and a painful punishment because of their rejection.”
[Yunus, 10: 4]

“Then will you truly – O you who have gone astray and denied – you will surely eat of the trees of Zaqqum. Then will you fill your stomachs with it and drink boiling water on top of it, and you will drink like diseased camels raging with thirst. Such will be their hospitality on the Day of Requital.”
[al Waqi’ah, 56: 51-56]

“Truly they will eat from it and fill their bellies with it. Then on top of that they will be given a mixture of boiling water. Then their return will be to Hellfire.”
[as Saffat, 37: 66-68]

Ghassaq (a Fluid of pus & blood which has oozed from their skins) “Thus, then will they taste it – a boiling fluid and a filthy fluid of pus and blood and other penalties of a similar kind to match them.”
[Sad, 38: 57-58]

“In front of him is Hell, and he is given pus to drink. He will gulp it but will hardly be able to swallow it, and death will come to him from every place, yet, he will not die. And in front of him will be a heavy punishment.”
[Ibrahim, 14: 16-17]

Water Like Molten Brass:
“Say, The Truth is from your Lord, so let him who will, believe, and let him who will, reject it.’ Indeed We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls surround them. If they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like molten brass that will scald their faces. How dreadful the drink. How evil the resting place.”
[al Kahf, 18: 29]

The Garments of Hell
Garments from Fire:
“These two opponents dispute with each other about their Lord. But those who disbelieve will have garments of fire cut out for them. Over their heads will be poured boiling water.”
[al Hajj, 22: 19]

Garments from Black Pitch:
“And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in chains and yokes- their garments of liquid pitch and their faces covered with fire.” [Ibrahim, 14: 49-50]
Beds and Bedcovers of Hell
They will have from Hellfire a bed and over them from it coverings. Thus do We reward the unjust.”
[al-Araf, 7: 41]

“It may be that your Lord may show mercy unto you, but if you revert to your sins. We will revert to Our punishments. And We have made Hell a mat for the disbelievers.”
[al Isra', 17: 8]

Yokes, Chains and Maces
Do you not see those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah – how they are turned away from truth? Those who reject the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers – soon they will know. When the yokes will be round their necks and the chains. They will be dragged in the boiling water. Then in the Fire they will be burned.”
[Ghafir, 40: 69-72]

“They will conceal their regret when they see the penalty. And We will put yokes on the necks of the unbelievers. Are they recompensed except for what they used to do?”
[Saba, 34: 33]

“For the disbelievers We have prepared chains, yokes and a blazing fire.”
[al Insan, 76: 4]

“With Us are yokes to bind them and fire to burn them.”
[al Muzzammil, 73: 12]

“And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in chains and yokes.”
[Ibrahim, 14: 49]

“It will be commanded, ‘Seize him and bind him. Then drive him into the Hellfire. Then in a chain whose length is seventy cubits bind him.’ For indeed, he would not believe in Allah, Most Great, and would not encourage the feeding of the poor. So he has no friend here this Day.”
[al Haqqah, 69: 30-35]

“And for them are maces of iron to punish them. Every time they wish to get out from it and from anguish, they will be returned to it, and it will be said, ‘Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire!’”
[al Hajj, 22: 21-22]

Variance in Degree of Penalties

Indeed the hypocrites are in the lowest depths of the Fire; you will find no helper for them.”
[an Nisa, 4: 145]

“The Fire – they will be exposed to it morning and evening, and on the Day, that judgment will be established [it will be said], ‘Cast the people of Pharaoh into the severest punishment.’”
[Ghafir, 40: 46]

“Those who disbelieved and hindered [mankind] from the path of Allah – We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment, for they used to spread corruption.”
[an Nahl, 16: 88]

Samurah bin Jundub (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“There will be some to whose ankles the fire will reach, some to whose knees the fire will reach, some to whose waists the fire will reach, and some to whose collarbones the fire will reach.”
[Muslim]

Nu’man bin Basheer (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Verily, of the inmates of the Fire, the one with the easiest punishment will be one who will have a pair of sandals and s traps of fire. His brain will boil from them as a kettle boils. He does not see that anyone is suffering a punishment more severe than him, while he is the one with the easiest punishment.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Ibn Abbas (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“Of the inmates of the Fire, the one with the easiest punishment will be Abu Talib; he will be wearing a pair of shoes which will cause his brain to boil.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Examples of Punishments

No, but stain has covered their hearts from that which they have earned. Verily, they will be concealed [and prevented] from their Lord that Day. Then they will enter Hellfire. Then it will be said to them, ‘This is [the reality] which you used to deny.’”
[al Mutaffifeen, 83: 14-17]

Skins Will be Roasted:
“Those who have disbelieved in Our signs – We will burn them in fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We will exchange them for other skins so that they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.”
[Surah an-Nisa, 4: 56]

Skins and Intestines will be Scalded:
“These two opponents dispute [with each other] about their Lord. But those who disbelieve will have garments of fire cut out for them. Over their heads will be poured boiling water. With it will be scalded what is within their bellies as well as [their] skins.”
[al-Hajj, 22: 19-20]

Faces will be Burned:
“And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in chains and yokes – their garments of liquid pitch and their faces covered with fire.”
[Surah Ibrahim, 14: 49-50]

“But those who scales [of good] are light, those are the ones who have lost their souls; [they will abide] in Hell eternally. The fire will burn, their faces, and they will [appear to] grin therein, their lips displaced.”
[al Mu’minun, 23: 103-104]

“If only the unbelievers knew [about] when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor from their backs, and [that] they will not be helped. No, but it will come to them suddenly and confound them. And they will not be able to avert it, nor will they be given respite.”
[al Anbiya, 21: 39-40]

“The Day that their faces will be turned from side to side in the fire, they will say, ‘We wish that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger.’”
[al-Ahzab, 33: 66]

“Is, then, one who will confront with his face the evil of the punishment on the Day of Judgment [like one protected from it]? It will be said to the wrong-doers, ‘Taste what you used to earn.’”
[az-Zumar, 39: 24]

Sinners will be Dragged:
“Truly, the criminals are in error and madness. The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, [they will hear], ‘Taste the touch of Hell.’”
[al Qamar, 54: 47-48]

“Do you not see those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah – how they are turned away [from truth]? Those who reject the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers – soon they will know. When the yokes [will be] round their necks and the chains. They will be dragged in the boiling water. Then in the Fire they will be burned.”
[Surah Ghafir, 40: 69-72]

Faces will Be Darkened:
“Do not be like those who are divided among themselves and fall into disputes after receiving clear proofs, for those will have a great punishment on the Day when some faces will be white and some faces will be black. As for those who faces are black, [it will be said], ‘Did you reject faith after accepting it? Taste, then, the punishment for what you used to reject.’”
[ali'-Imran, 3: 105-106]

“For those who do good is good – and extra! No darkness or shame will cover their faces. They are companions of the Garden. They will abide in it forever. But those who have earned evil will have a reward of like evil; humiliation will cover their faces. They will have no defender from [the wrath of] Allah. Their faces will be covered with pieces of the darkness of night. They are the companions of the Fire. They will abide in it forever.”
[Yunus, 10: 26-27]

Fire will Surround Them from All Directions:
“On the Day that the punishment will cover them from above them and below them, layers. With this Allah warns His servants, ‘O my servants, then fear Me!’”
[az-Zumar, 39: 16]

“Say, ‘The Truth is from your Lord, so let him who will, believe, and let him who will, reject [it].’ Indeed We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls surround them. If they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like molten brass that will scald their faces. How dreadful the drink. How evil the resting place.”
[al Kahf, 18: 29]

Fire will Mount Right up to the Hearts:
“[It is] the fire of Allah kindled [to a blaze], which mounts right to the hearts. It will be a vault over them in outstretched columns.”
[al Humazah, 104: 6-9]

Intestines will come out of Bellies:
Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) stated that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“I saw ‘Amr bin ‘Amir al Khuya’I dragging his intestines in the Fire; he was the first who dedicated animals to false deities.”
[Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“I saw ‘Amr bin Luhayy bin Qam’a bin Khindif, brother of Bani Ka’b, dragging his intestines in the Fire.”
[Muslim]

Abu Zayd Usamah bin Zayd bin Harithah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“On the Day of Judgment a man will be brought and thrown into Hell. As a result of this, his intestines will come out of his belly, and he will circumambulate, holding his intestines like a donkey running a mill. His companions in Hell will say to him, ‘O so and so, what is this? Did you not ask people to do good and avoid evil?’ He will say, ‘That is true. However, I told others to do good but did not do it myself, and I forbade them to do evil, but did it myself.’”
[Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

No Defense:
“Upon you, [O jinn and mankind], will be sent a flame of fire [to burn] and [molten] brass. You will have no defense!”
[ar-Rahman, 55: 35]

Weeping, Sighing and Sobbing of Its Inhabitants:
“Those who are wretched will be in the Fire. In it there will be for them the sound of exhaling and inhaling. They will dwell in it for all the time that the heavens and earth endure, except for what your Lord wills. For your Lord is the sure accomplisher of what He intends.”
[Hud, 11: 106-107]

“Verily, you [unbelievers] and what you worship besides Allah are fuel for Hellfire. You will surely come to it. If those had [truly] been gods, they would not have come to it. But all will abide therein eternally. There, for them will be heaving, deep signs, and they will not hear there [anything else].”
[al Anbiya, 21: 98-100]

“Therein they will cry out [for assistance], ‘Our Lord, remove us [and ] we will work righteousness – other than what we used to do.’ But did We not give you long enough life that whoever would be reminded therein could be reminded, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the result of your deeds]. There is no helper for the wrongdoers.”
[Fatir, 35: 37]

Regret, Grief and Self-Recrimination:
“They will conceal their regret when they see the penalty. And We will put yokes on the necks of the unbelievers. Are they recompensed except for what they used to do?”
[Saba, 34: 33]

“For those who reject their Lord is the penalty of Hell, and evil is such a destination. When they are cast therein, they will hear the terrible drawing in of its breath even as it blazes forth. It is almost bursting with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keepers will ask, ‘Did no warner come to you?’ They will say, ‘Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, ‘Allah has revealed nothing. You are but in great delusion.’ And they will say, ‘Had we listened or used our intelligence, we would not now be among the companions of the Blazing Fire.’ So they will confess their sin, but far will be forgiveness from the companions of the Blazing Fire.”
[al Mulk, 67: 6-11]

“If only you could see when the criminals hang their heads before their Lord, [saying], ‘Our Lord, we have seen and we have heard, so sent us back [to the world]; we will work righteousness, for we are indeed certain [now].’ If We had willed, We could certainly have brought every soul its guidance, but the Word will be realized: ‘I will fill Hell with jinn and men all together. Taste, then- for you forgot the meeting of this, your Day, We, [too], will forget you. And the taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do.’”
[as Sajdah, 32: 12-14]

“They will say, ‘Our Lord, our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we were a people astray. Our Lord, remove us from this; if ever we return [to evil], then we will indeed be wrongdoers.’ He will say, ‘Remain humiliated therein, and do not speak to Me!’”
[al Mu'minun, 23: 106-108]

“For We had certainly sent unto them a Book which We had detailed with knowledge, a guide and a mercy to a people who believe. Are they waiting for it to be realized? On the Day it is realized, those who disregarded it before will say, ‘Indeed, the messengers of our Lord came with the truth. Are there no intercessors [now] to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back to do other than we used to do?’ They will have lost their souls, and lost from them is [all] that which they used to invent.”
[al-A’raf, 7: 52-53]

“They will say, ‘Our Lord, you have made us lifeless twice and You have given us life twice. Now we have confessed our sins, so is there any way to get out?’ [The answer will be], ‘That is because when Allah was invoked alone you rejected [this], but if partners were associated with Him, you believed. The ruling [judgment] is with Allah, the Exalted, Most Great.’”
[Ghafir, 40: 11-12]

“How clearly they will see and hear the Day that they will come to Us. But the unjust today are in manifest error. But warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be determined; yet, they are unmindful, and they do not believe.”
[Maryam, 19: 38-39]

Abu Sa’eed (radiAllahu anhu) reported: “Allah Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said,
‘Death will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a white-colored ram. [Abu Kurayb added: “Then it will be made to stand between Paradise and Hell.”] It will be said to the inhabitants of Paradise, ‘Do you recognize this?” They will stretch forth their necks and look towards it, saying, ‘Yes, it is death.” Then it will be said to the inhabitants of the Hellfire, ‘Do you recognize this?” And they will stretch forth their necks, look, and say, ‘Yes it is death.” Then the command will be given for slaughtering the ram, and it will be said, ‘O inhabitants of Paradise, [there is now] eternity and no death.” And then it will be said to the inhabitants of Hellfire, “O inhabitants of Hell, [there is now] eternity and no death.”’ Allah’s Messenger (SAW) then recited the following verse, pointing with his hand to this material world: ‘But warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be determined; yet, they are unmindful, and they do not believe.’”
[Muslim, surah Maryam, 19: 39]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) related that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“None will enter Paradise except that he will be shown the place that he would have occupied in Hellfire if he had been evil – so that he will be more thankful; each one of those who enter Hellfire will be shown the place that he would have occupied in Paradise if he had been good – so that he will increase in regret.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Creation of Hell-Fire
"Fear the fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers."
[Ali'-Imran, 3: 131]

"Truly Hell is lying in wait- a destination for the transgressors."
[an-Naba, 78: 21-22]
(One’s rejection of faith is transgression against Allah and himself).

Abdullah bin Umar (radiAllahu anhu) narrated: “Allah Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said,
‘When someone dies, he is shown his destination morning and evening and if he belongs to the people of Paradise, (he will be shown his place) among the people of Paradise, and if he is from the people of Hell, (he will be shown his place) among the people of Hell.’”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:
“There was a dispute between Hell and Paradise during which Hell said, ‘The haughty and the proud will find abode in me.’ And Paradise said, ‘The meek and the humble will find their abode in me.’ Thereupon, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, (addressing Hell) said, ‘You are the means of My punishment by which I punish those of My servants whom I wish.’ (and addressing Paradise), He said, ‘You are My mercy by means of which I will show mercy to those whom I wish. And each one of you will be full.’”
[Muslim]

"Seek knowledge, because seeking it for the sake of Allah is a worship. And knowing it makes you more God-fearing; and searching for it is jihad, teaching it to those who do not know is charity, reviewing and learning it more is like tasbeeh. Through knowledge Allah will be known and worshipped. With the knowledge Allah will elevate people and make them leaders and imams, who will in turn guide other people."

Sheikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (RahimuhuAllah)

ASSALAMU ALEIKUM,

First of all i would like to thank all peaople involved in this da'awah, may Allah grant u paradise Amin. What impresses me from this site and its affiliate e.g. SFAFX Production is the quality of content produced by individuals - the good thing is u get to see excellent quality stuff done by muslims and for muslims. Jazakumullah. Now to my point, i was asking if is there any opensource development projects or community which is run by muslims for the development of quality islamic softwares? some may ask whats the purpose or importance? well i'v been a rookie programmer in php (opensource programming language) and have seen its benefit when it comes to opensource softwares available throught. Imagine we all knw what happens in a normal madrassa or an islamic community, now imagine if there were opensource projects for madrassa or mosque administration - and people developing and improving it in daily base...it would be great for the madrassa'a and a sadatu jarriya.

Its an idea that i have been having, so plz incase of anythng plz reply.

Jazakumullah.

Wa alaikum isalaam brother,

JazakAllahu khayr for your kind words and support brother. I will just like to point something out to you brother, the user SFAvfx is me and I am just another member of an excellent group of brothers and sisters who manage this site.

I personally don't know a community of Muslims who develop Islamic software, but if your interested in adding some of your personal projects to our site, than we would definitely be interested in allowing you to do this. If it's possible can you show us some online examples of your work, if your interested in adding it to our site?

Ma'asalaama

Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib reported from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

"You should not undertake a special journey to visit any place other than the three Mosques: the Sacred Mosque of Makkah, this mosque of mine, and Al-Aqsa Mosque (of Jerusalem)."

Sahih al-Bukhari

This is a fantastic poem by Roald Dahl.

Television

Written by Roald Dahl

The most important thing we’ve learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set –
Or better still, just don’t install
The idiotic thing at all.
In almost every house we’ve been,
We’ve watched them gaping at the screen.
They loll and slop and lounge about,
And stare until their eyes pop out.
(Last week in someone’s place we saw
A dozen eyeballs on the floor.)
They sit and stare and stare and sit
Until they’re hypnotised by it,
Until they’re absolutely drunk
With all that shocking ghastly junk.
Oh yes, we know it keeps them still,
They don’t climb out the window sill,
They never fight or kick or punch,
They leave you free to cook the lunch
And wash the dishes in the sink –
But did you ever stop to think,
To wonder just exactly what
This does to your beloved tot?
IT ROTS THE SENSE IN THE HEAD!
IT KILLS IMAGINATION DEAD!
IT CLOGS AND CLUTTERS UP THE MIND!
IT MAKES A CHILD SO DULL AND BLIND
HE CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
A FANTASY, A FAIRYLAND!
HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK — HE ONLY SEES!
‘All right!’ you’ll cry. ‘All right!’ you’ll say,
‘But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children? Please explain!’
We’ll answer this by asking you,
‘What used the darling ones to do?
‘How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?’
Have you forgotten? Don’t you know?
We’ll say it very loud and slow:
THEY … USED … TO … READ! They’d READ and READ,
AND READ and READ, and then proceed
To READ some more. Great Scott! Gadzooks!
One half their lives was reading books!
The nursery shelves held books galore!
Books cluttered up the nursery floor!
And in the bedroom, by the bed,
More books were waiting to be read!
Such wondrous, fine, fantastic tales
Of dragons, gypsies, queens, and whales
And treasure isles, and distant shores
Where smugglers rowed with muffled oars,
And pirates wearing purple pants,
And sailing ships and elephants,
And cannibals crouching ’round the pot,
Stirring away at something hot.
(It smells so good, what can it be?
Good gracious, it’s Penelope.)
The younger ones had Beatrix Potter
With Mr. Tod, the dirty rotter,
And Squirrel Nutkin, Pigling Bland,
And Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and-
Just How The Camel Got His Hump,
And How the Monkey Lost His Rump,
And Mr. Toad, and bless my soul,
There’s Mr. Rate and Mr. Mole-
Oh, books, what books they used to know,
Those children living long ago!
So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books,
Ignoring all the dirty looks,
The screams and yells, the bites and kicks,
And children hitting you with sticks-
Fear not, because we promise you
That, in about a week or two
Of having nothing else to do,
They’ll now begin to feel the need
Of having something to read.
And once they start — oh boy, oh boy!
You watch the slowly growing joy
That fills their hearts. They’ll grow so keen
They’ll wonder what they’d ever seen
In that ridiculous machine,
That nauseating, foul, unclean,
Repulsive television screen!
And later, each and every kid
Will love you more for what you did.

I love this poem! I don't get how some people can waste hours of their day watching silly soap operas and dramas. There's more to life than just sit and stare at a flashy box. In my opinion, THAT'S what's boring and it wastes a whole lot of precious time.
